Last update:

Aarhus, Denmark-based Cordulus, a provider of AI-based weather solutions, announced on Monday, November 4, that it has secured €3M in funding from international agricultural group Danish Agro and the Pajbjerg Foundation.

The company will use the funds to accelerate its expansion of weather solutions into new markets.

“We are proud of the continued support from our investors, which shows confidence in our long-term vision,” says John Smedegaard, CEO of Cordulus.

Cordulus: Providing advanced weather insights

Led by John Smedegaard, Cordulus provides advanced weather insights and has developed an AI weather model that predicts the weather with unprecedented accuracy.

For many years, Cordulus has used artificial intelligence to create highly accurate hyperlocal weather forecasts, improving accuracy by 50 per cent compared to traditional methods.

They achieve this by analysing data from various sources, including satellite images and radar.

The company also gathers millions of weather measurements daily from its large network of over 4,000 weather stations, making it the largest in Northern Europe.

“We are currently seeing a global transformation where AI-based weather technologies open up new possibilities. We are pioneering this development and see huge potential in bringing our data analytics and forecasting tools to new industries and markets where detailed, frequently updated weather forecasts create great value.” continuous Smedegaard.

“We help companies manage weather-related risks, reduce resource consumption, and reduce their carbon footprint. It is through AI that we can position ourselves as a key player in the green economy of the future,” concludes John Smedegaard.

The investor

The Danish Agro group mainly operates within the sale of feedstuff mixes, ingredients, vitamin mixes, fertiliser, crop protection, seed, and energy, plus the purchase of crops from farmers.

“We have been an investor in Cordulus since 2018 and have witnessed first-hand the strong development the company has gone through. The weather stations are good examples of the way we want to help farmers around the Baltic Sea with digital tools”, says Henning Haahr, CEO of Danish Agro Group and Chairman of the Board of Cordulus.

The Pajbjerg Foundation aims to support independent development in Danish agriculture through crop research and processing.

“The Pajbjerg Foundation is pleased to once again be able to help Cordulus grow and develop. Our focus is to support plant breeding, and weather conditions are a crucial parameter to navigate when developing new varieties for food and feed,” says Michael Stevns, Chairman of the Pajbjerg Foundation.
