After raising $45M (approx €38M) in its Series C extension round of funding in August, Swedish mobility startup Voi is now starting to hire people for its UK operations.

This hiring is being done through the UK Government’s Kickstart scheme that is designed to create new jobs for 16- to 24-year-olds who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

According to the company, these job opportunities will give the much-needed learning and exposure to young and enthusiastic people who want to learn the nitty gritty of the mobility industry.

The company claims to have created over 200 job opportunities in the UK after the launch of its first e-scooter in 2020..

Details About The Hiring Process

Selected candidates will be employed by the company for six months and will be trained in skills ranging from customer service to problem solving. It will also conduct workshops to enhance the transferable skills of candidates so that they perform in the job market.

As per the company, these candidates will also be provided with the opportunity to work in Voi’s central function departments such as Marketing, Communications and HR.

The process of applying for the job is also easy.  Interested candidates can speak to their local job centre for relevant details regarding the opportunity.

Speaking about this initiative, Jack Samler, UK General Manager at Voi, says, “As we continue our recovery from the pandemic, it is vital that young people who have been hit very hard over the last 18 months are given the opportunity to learn new skills in the heart of our dynamic company and strengthen their CVs so they can get on in life.”

Roles and Responsibilities

Voi plans to hire 18 Fleet Specialists whose primary roles and responsibilities will include working in customer relations and completing minor e-scooter maintenance. Fleet specialists will further help Voi’s teams across the country in promotion and safety events.

Voi will also hire Warehouse Operatives who will assist in inventory and stock management along with other duties such as deploying vehicles in the operating areas. They will work closely with the Warehouse Manager.

About Voi

Voi, the mobility startup in the UK was founded in 2018 by Adam Jafer, Douglas Stark, Fredrik Hjelm, and Keith Richman. It offers e-scooter sharing services in partnership with cities and local communities. The company has recently unveiled a large-scale pilot of computer vision on e-scooters, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that can detect when an e-scooter leaves the road and rides on pavement or when the vehicle is parked incorrectly.

Voi claims to be a carbon-neutral company since January 2020 and has adopted the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding framework.

Currently, Voi operates in more than 70 cities across 11 countries. It is headquartered in Stockholm and employs over 500 people. The company claims to have more than 6 million users and has provided more than 60 million rides across Europe.
