Thailand-based Eko, a mobile-first communications platform, raised €17.6 million in the Series B financing round from the venture capital wing of Sinar Mas Group, one of Indonesia’s largest organisation controlled by the Widjaja family. Also, it has zeroed in on the city of Amsterdam to set up its European headquarters. Further, their application is now also available in Dutch.
Finn McClain, the American Dutchman that is leading Eko in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, explains the choice for Amsterdam: “Amsterdam is perfect for us. After working for years for several companies in Silicon Valley, I returned to Amsterdam a few years ago. I actually feel the same vibe as in the heydays of the Valley. Amsterdam is the tech hub of Europe, with lots of talent, other inspiring scaleups and a climate that stimulates innovation and entrepreneurship. Hence, this is the right place for Eko to realise expansion. We’re now working hard to attract new staff.”
What is Eko?
With a mobile workforce, Eko is a one-of-a-kind collaboration and communications platform for businesses. The company has already stretched its wings across Bangkok, London, Berlin and New York.
