Delft-based Tarnoc, a cleantech startup, announced that it has secured €1.2M in a fresh funding round to accelerate the commercial rollout of its innovative Turbine Heat Pump.
Tarnoc’s mission is to reshape sustainable heating and decarbonise the built environment across Europe.
The Dutch company will utilise the funds to scale up production capacity, execute its first commercial projects, and enhance its market position.
“What once started as a dream, building a solution that allows us to make all homes natural gas-free easily and quickly, is one step closer,” says Vincent Wijdeveld, co-founder of Tarnoc. “With our entire team, we work very hard to make that mission come true. And now it really starts: in the coming period, we will do everything we can to prepare the Turbine Boiler for commercial launch.”
Tarnoc: Building the first all-electric ‘Turbine Heat Pump’
Founded in 2019 by Vincent Wijdeveld, Tijmen de Jong, and Maurits Vos, Tarnoc is developing heat pump technology designed to accelerate the energy transition in the built environment.
The company’s solution is not only sustainable but also highly suitable for large-scale urban implementation, an essential element in achieving national and European climate goals.
The company’s patented Turbine Heat Pump stands out as a replacement for the traditional gas boiler, requiring no outdoor unit and integrating directly with existing radiators and pipework.
This approach eliminates the need for major structural changes, addressing one of the biggest hurdles in the large-scale adoption of heat pump technology.
The Turbine Heat Pump delivers high-temperature heating without emissions, supporting both Dutch and EU climate goals.
Its compact, all-electric design not only lowers the carbon footprint of residential heating but also simplifies retrofits in dense urban neighbourhoods where conventional heat pumps face practical limitations.
Based on the YES!Delft incubator on the TU Delft Campus, the company currently employs a 12-person international team.
With this latest funding round, the company is set to expand partnerships with municipalities, housing associations, and installation specialists eager to future-proof their properties.
