Oxfordshire-based Oxford Dynamics, a deep-tech startup specialised in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, has secured a strategic investment from BAE Systems, a British multinational aerospace, arms and information security company.
BAE Systems‘ Digital Intelligence employs over 4,500 specialists in digital technology and cybersecurity across 13 countries.
They focus on innovation to support vital infrastructure, national security, and the readiness of armed forces.

Their team provides advanced tools and insights that help clients make informed decisions to keep society safe.
BAE Systems collaborates with governments, communities, and businesses to create and maintain effective defence and security solutions.
“By working with companies such as Oxford Dynamics, we can help ensure that the nation is ready to unlock the advantages that innovation brings and help strengthen the UK’s sovereign defence and security landscape,” says Andrea Thompson, Group Managing Director of BAE Systems’ Digital Intelligence business.
BAE Systems x Oxford Dynamics
BAE Systems is partnering with Oxford Dynamics to combine their knowledge in defence and AI. They aim to create advanced solutions for the UK and its allies in various areas, including air, land, sea, space, and cyber.
The initial phase of the partnership will see Oxford Dynamics’ AI technology integrated into Prophesea, BAE Systems’ digital platform designed to maintain the operational readiness of critical defence assets such as warships, armoured vehicles, and combat aircraft.
In the longer term, the collaboration will enable the integration of Oxford Dynamics’ capabilities across BAE Systems’ extensive portfolio.
This will give UK and allied forces real-time AI support, helping them make quick decisions, act independently, and be more resilient in challenging situations.
While Oxford Dynamics will continue to operate as an independent company, BAE Systems’ investment will support its next phase of growth. This includes contributing to UK strategic defence goals, creating skilled jobs, and expanding the UK’s sovereign AI capability.
Oxford Dynamics: Enabling machines to think like humans
Oxford Dynamics (OD) was founded in 2020 by Dr Edward Jackson, Shefali Sharma and Mike Lawton and is located at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell, Oxfordshire.
The company develops intelligent autonomous systems that collaborate to interpret data, coordinate action and make real-time decisions.
Its technology is designed to help defence and security organisations improve mission planning and respond to threats faster, with greater precision and in increasingly complex environments.
“This collaboration embodies the UK Government’s Strategic Defence Review’s call to action: accelerate innovation, deliver sovereign capability and build a more integrated and lethal force,” says Dr Edward Jackson, Oxford Dynamics.
“Our shared mission at Oxford Dynamics is to bring trusted AI to the front line, and working with BAE Systems gives us the platform to quickly scale our technology into systems that will make a real difference to our armed forces,” adds Jackson.
