Amsterdam is reinforcing its role as a major startup hub in Europe, hosting about 1,219 startups, which accounts for nearly 45 per cent of the Netherlands’ total.

Although the city saw a slight drop in the 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Index, it continues to attract both talent and investment. The city aims to remain central to the growth of the Dutch tech sector, ranking 26th worldwide and leading nationally in areas such as fintech.

In August 2025, several Amsterdam-based startups secured new funding rounds, underscoring this ongoing activity. These companies span multiple sectors, including digital finance, sustainable infrastructure, defence, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.

In this article, we have highlighted the startups that secured capital in August 2025, some of which are currently expanding their teams.
