Dublin-based Accenture, a company that provides services and solutions in strategy, consulting, digital technology and operations, announced that it has acquired Utrecht-based Zestgroup, a services firm specialising in energy transitions, net carbon-zero projects and procurement of renewables. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

What does Zestgroup offer?

Zestgroup is a consultancy and project agency that specialises in improving business processes, whether it concerns the optimisation of existing business or the transition to a new organisation.

The company’s mission is to make its clients’ businesses run better. “We use our substantive knowledge, a hefty dose of curiosity and entrepreneurship for this. In this way we improve processes and projects in a way that suits our customers. These solutions are therefore always tailor-made and not a ready-made success formula,” says the company.

As a knowledge and project partner, Zestgroup works with more than 140 consultants on various assignments for medium-sized and large companies and multinationals.

Speaking on the development, Ramon van der Wal, CEO of Zestgroup, says, “Growing our business as part of Accenture will translate into new opportunities for our people and our combined expertise will help our clients move faster and smarter as they realise the benefits that emerge from a net-zero journey.”

Aim of this acquisition

Zestgroup brings deep industry knowledge, project expertise, and market regulation experience into helping organisations move to net-zero. These capabilities enhance Accenture’s ability to build more trusted, circular, and net-zero value chains, while driving social and economic benefits for all stakeholders.

Nicole van Det, country MD of Accenture Netherlands, says, “By combining years of deep industry expertise and capabilities, Zestgroup advances our ability to help clients move faster in achieving their carbon emission objectives. A sustainable future relies on organisations moving faster to transition ways of working to those that make greater use of sustainable clean energy sources.”

Zestgroup supports the transition to sustainable energy sources, such as solar, water, heat, wind and biogas, and helps clients achieve net-zero carbon. The combination of these services with Accenture’s SynOps platform will give it the ability to leverage insights to help clients extract value out of existing investments and accelerate their sustainability journey.

Manish Sharma, group chief executive of Accenture Operations, adds, “Creating a sustainable future will be defined by those that create value faster and maximise the impact of those investments. We’re delighted to welcome Zestgroup to our team, adding significant expertise to our procurement business while extending our ability to deliver on our promise to embed sustainability into everything we do and with everyone we work with.”

Zestgroup brings more than 120 professionals to Accenture Operations, with clients in a variety of sectors and deep expertise across energy transition and reconciliation, supplier market regulations, renewable spending category, and project and procurement services.
