When it comes to large institutions, feedback is often too slow and inconsistent. As a result, educators spend countless hours grading long-form assessments.
And here’s where Amsterdam-based LearnWise comes into play!

LearnWise: AI-powered edtech platform
Founded in 2023, LearnWise is led by a team of education technology experts, including Greg Marschall, Michel Visser, Pietro Vigilanza, Ian Haugh, Toshiro Polak, and Luca Dorigo.
LearnWise is an AI-powered edtech platform that improves student support in universities. It works across systems like learning platforms, student portals, and websites to provide a consistent experience.
AI assessment feedback and grading solution
Recently, the Dutch company released an AI solution to transform the way educators provide feedback and grades to students.
The new AI Assessment Feedback and Grading solution prioritises institution-specific and course-specific content, aligning feedback precisely with institutional policies, rubrics, and resources.
Unlike generic AI tools, LearnWise’s solution is context-aware, referencing exact course content so students can directly understand and act upon the feedback provided.
Its advanced feedback pipeline and fine-tuned grading model are grounded in course materials rather than relying solely on general language models.
Prefers AI-generated feedback
Early pilot outcomes from a double-blind educator-led study at a 40,000-student institution showed that educators preferred AI-generated feedback to human-generated feedback 84 per cent of the time.
Currently, the company is working with a global English-speaking institution to create an AI-supported learning system that helps adult learners with personalised assessments and clear feedback, while keeping instructors at the forefront.
The AI solution works directly within educators’ current systems, making it easy to adjust, approve, or regenerate feedback in their usual grading environment. By handling repetitive grading tasks, teachers can spend more time providing personalised support for their students.
Human-led, AI-enhanced feedback
Moreover, the AI Assessment Feedback and Grading Solution analyses instructor notes and annotations to generate effective, rubric-based feedback and grades on written and video assignments.
The Dutch company helps instructors enhance their feedback for any rubric criteria for tone, depth, and any other custom instructions.
Greg Marschall, CEO at LearnWise, shares, “We know that when an educator grades 50 assignments in a row, the feedback quality at number 50 often doesn’t match the quality given at number one. Our solution helps educators maintain control and use their voice, while significantly raising the bar on equitable, consistent feedback. It’s about giving faculty an ethical AI assistant that respects their workflow, ensuring every student receives quality feedback without overwhelming educators.”
