Amsterdam-based Alphadoc, a platform that helps product and development teams create great documentation fast, announced on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in its pre-Seed round to launch its platform today.
Investors in this round
The round was backed by a large group of tech entrepreneurs and investors, including founders from Dimebox, Founda Health, Spryng, Reveall, and Growth Tribe; former leadership profiles from Adyen, Hubs, Recruitee, and WeTransfer; and private tickets from leading European VC funds.
Jan Joost Kalff, Founder of Founda Health, says, “The API industry has been reliant on skilled individuals to build good developer experiences. I thoroughly believe that Alphadoc will change how the industry builds these experiences moving forward. This product is a first of its kind.”
What does Alphadoc offer?
Founded in late 2021, Alphadoc claims to help API-first companies build ‘cutting-edge’ documentation.
APIs allow companies to integrate with other software platforms. For example, developers can use a tool like Mollie, a platform for integrating payments, to set up payments on their website in hours instead of having to code their own payment gateway, which can take months. This helps developers save time on low-value tasks so they can focus on building core features and value for their businesses.
According to Aplhadoc, in today’s business scenario, speed can make or break a company. Therefore, the amount of developer focussed companies and the use of APIs has been exploding. For developers to utilise APIs effectively, solid documentation is required. However, many companies struggle to create and continuously update their API documentation due to the lack of talent and resources.
This is a problem founders Job Rietbergen and Daan Stolk experienced first-hand while leading growth and product teams at API businesses. Looking for smart tooling to help them build a ‘great’ documentation experience for their users, they quickly realised there were none.
In order to help API companies upgrade their developer experience, Rietbergen, formerly in the leadership at Founda Health and Growth Tribe, and Stolk, who led developer experience at Dimebox and Verifone, decided to launch the B2B SaaS solution, Alphadoc.
The platform helps product and development teams create documentation fast. It enables teams to explain their product with a story, by automatically generating documentation and tutorials explaining how to use their API and keeping this documentation up-to-date when their API changes.
Alphadoc reports that some developer-focused companies have already benefited from utilising their API to increase sales. For example, Twilio’s go-to-market strategy was mainly focused on creating a frictionless experience for developers, which led to product advocates, high NPS and account value.
