Last update:

UK-based AltFi, a digital news publication exclusively covering financial technology, announced that it will shut down its business after a decade of operation.

The news is a significant blow to the fintech community.

It marks the end of an era for a publication that played a pivotal role in covering the evolution of the UK fintech landscape.

“Whilst our purpose, journalism, and brand following has never been in doubt, we have faced severe headwinds over the last 18 months,” says the company.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our network for your persistent loyalty in choosing AltFi as your trusted source of fintech news over the last decade. We have thoroughly enjoyed playing our part in supporting the growth success story that has been UK fintech. We have met so many fantastic people and businesses, as you would expect, having covered the lifespan of so many challengers to incumbents through this time,” writes the company in its official blog post.

Mauro Battellini, the co-founder of Black Unicorn PR, called it a “sad day.”

Charlotte Crosswell OBE, Chair of CFIT (Centre for Finance, Innovation, and Technology) calls it “terribly sad news”
