New Kids on the Block: Amsterdam startups launched in 2024 and looking to make waves in 2025

Amsterdam’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem has once again proven its ability to nurture innovation, with a wave of startups launched in 2024 already poised to make a significant impact in 2025. 

From AI-driven solutions and sustainability initiatives to transformative financial tools and cutting-edge robotics, these emerging ventures are tackling challenges across industries with creativity and determination.

Here’s a closer look at the standout startups aiming to reshape their respective markets and position Amsterdam as a global hub for innovation.

TrustXchange

TrustXchange, founded in 2024 by Nicolaes Tollenaar and Caspar Walhout, is developing a platform that allows the reuse of Know-Your-Customer (KYC) data between institutions, or gatekeepers.

With TrustXchange’s solution, after a KYC file is assessed and verified, it is returned to the customer as a digital “KYC passport.” The customer can then share this passport with other institutions, eliminating the need for repeated KYC processes and associated fees. The costs of the KYC process are shared between the gatekeepers.

TrustXchange has secured €350,000 in funding from Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland.

Balthazar Labs

Balthazar is a cloud platform designed to automate experiment tracking and streamline data management for R&D labs, supporting AI-powered hardware development. It enables engineers to design, execute, and track experiments while automatically capturing relevant metadata. 

The platform offers scripting for measurement automation and data analysis, allowing flexibility without altering existing workflows. Balthazar centralises results, protocols, and experimental conditions in a web interface, fostering collaboration and real-time insights. 

It supports advanced analytics, decision support, and autonomous experiments for high-tech industries, deep tech ventures, and academic research that require customisable and scalable R&D workflows.

According to Dealroom, Balthazar Labs secured €100K from Antler in January and €300K from Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland in September.

Fire Station

Fire Station is an upcoming platform designed to transform the cryptocurrency landscape, with the FIRE token serving as the cornerstone of its ecosystem. Focused on security, transparency, and user experience, the platform aims to provide a seamless onboarding process for both experienced users and newcomers. 

Built on a blockchain foundation, Fire Station claims to offer a secure environment for digital asset transactions and a space for innovation. Beyond trading, it aspires to be a hub for decentralised applications and cutting-edge projects.

According to Dealroom, in August, the company secured an undisclosed funding amount in a Seed round.

RevisionRun

RevisionRun is an educational platform designed to help high school students improve their math skills by providing personalised practice. 

The platform identifies students’ weaknesses by analysing their answers to real exam questions, offering detailed solutions and tracking mistakes step-by-step. This data is used to create tailored question sets that target specific areas for improvement, ensuring more efficient learning. 

RevisionRun helps students understand the reasoning behind their mistakes. The platform primarily serves International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program students.

Swipework

Swipework is a job platform that uses video content and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the recruitment process. Designed to match job seekers with roles that align with their skills and preferences, the platform offers a more engaging and efficient job search experience. 

Swipework targets companies aiming to attract younger talent, particularly Gen Z, who prefer visual content over traditional text-based job listings. The platform operates in the recruitment and HR technology market, offering employers subscription packages with features like enhanced visibility and advanced analytics. 

By focusing on video and AI, Swipework aims to streamline hiring and improve recruitment strategies.

In August, the company raised €650K in a seed round from AI software company Artific Intelligence.

Lleverage

Lleverge.ai is a low-code AI feature development and observability platform designed to simplify the creation, testing, and deployment of AI functionalities. It enables collaboration between product and engineering teams, allowing them to integrate data from various sources, including APIs and databases, into AI workflows. 

The platform supports model providers for generative services like large language models (LLMs), text-to-image, and text-to-speech models. Lleverage.ai operates on a subscription-based model, offering clients a comprehensive suite of tools to build, test, and deploy AI features efficiently.

In July, the Amsterdam-based AI startup emerged from stealth with €2M in pre-seed funding.

EvryThink

EvryThink is a SaaS B2B application designed to simplify financial management for early-stage startups. It offers AI-powered, modular solutions that cover a wide range of functions, including accounting, talent management, tax, inventory, FP&A, and FinOps. 

With its all-in-one platform, EvryThink aims to streamline financial processes for startups, providing a comprehensive approach to managing finances. The company’s mission is to become the go-to financial tool for startups and entrepreneurs worldwide.

GoDutch.com

GoDutch, launched in May, is a banking platform focused on fairness and transparency. It offers a unique approach by making visible the income traditional banks earn and returning up to 70 per cent of these earnings to its users. 

GoDutch is committed to fair financial redistribution, supporting social and sustainable projects, and achieving climate-positive status within two years. The platform also provides quick access to payment services, such as a Dutch IBAN within three hours, and ensures high safety standards through its partnership with French payment services provider Swan. 

Additionally, GoDutch encourages sustainability through initiatives like greening African savannah and partnerships with charitable organisations, aiming to create a positive impact on both the planet and the community.

Struck

Struck is an AI-powered compliance platform designed to streamline the often complex and time-consuming process of adhering to building regulations. 

According to the company, during a housing crisis, delays can be particularly costly. Struck aims to eliminate obstacles and reduce the time and expense associated with navigating regulatory requirements. 

By providing access to relevant regulations and offering fast, automated checks, Struck helps architects, developers, and builders save both time and money. 

With an extensive library of documents for the Netherlands and the UK and the ability to generate 3D AI-generated building volumes, Struck simplifies compliance and enhances confidence in construction projects.

In May, the Amsterdam-based company emerged from stealth mode with €250K in a pre-seed round of funding.

Antfarm

Antfarm is addressing the global waste crisis by providing robotics and AI solutions to enhance the efficiency of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). The company’s flagship product, the Antfarm X1, combines swarm robotics and AI to improve waste sorting. 

This system uses multiple robots working together, guided by advanced AI algorithms, to sort up to 700 items per minute—six times faster than traditional methods.

In May, the robotic startup secured €200K investment from the company’s co-founder and CEO Sébastien Willems.

Kiana agriculture

Kiana Agriculture BV is dedicated to developing nature-based solutions that enhance agricultural production. The company’s mission is to make farming more profitable for farmers, environmentally sustainable, and healthier for consumers. 

The company’s name, “Kiana”, reflects its commitment to nature, drawing inspiration from various languages where it signifies “Ancient”, “Elements of Nature”, “Earth”, and “Heavenly”.

Kiana Agriculture has been selected for the Spring ‘24 cohort of the Biotope Basecamp. The programme begins on May 28th in Ghent, Belgium, featuring a series of workshops designed to foster innovation and collaboration among a diverse group of startups.

Wheel AI

GetWheel.io is a startup that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to transform online advertising for e-commerce businesses. The platform connects to online stores, extracts key data, and utilises AI algorithms to develop tailored ad campaign strategies, driving high-converting external traffic.

Targeting e-commerce businesses of all sizes, GetWheel.io operates in the digital marketing and advertising technology market. The company follows a subscription-based business model with tiered pricing and may also offer performance-based pricing tied to ad spend, ensuring clients achieve a strong return on investment (ROI).

According to Dealroom, in January, the company secured €100K in seed funding from Antler.

FusionGig

FusionGig is a platform founded by 20-year-old entrepreneur Guus Verbeem to transform the gig economy. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology, FusionGig creates a secure, efficient, and transparent environment for connecting freelancers with businesses. 

The platform aims to address inefficiencies in traditional gig economy models, providing faster services and fostering trust in transactions.

With a €10M valuation secured during its pre-seed round, FusionGig has gained recognition as a disruptive force in the market. Verbeem envisions the platform as an ecosystem where freelancers and employers can thrive, setting a new standard for the gig economy.
