Paderborn-based Assemblean, a German deeptech startup, has secured €1.8M in a Seed funding round led by b2venture, with participation from Archimedes New Ventures and Teuto Seed Club business angels.

The company claims to offer a manufacturing and supply chain automation platform, leveraging a Production-as-a-Service model to tap into the €2.4T contract manufacturing market.

Florian Schweitzer, Partner at b2venture, says, “Right from the start we have been impressed by the expertise and commitment of the assemblean team and we’re beyond happy to back their journey going forward.”

“With its proprietary platform and superior technology, the company is poised to become a leading player in transforming manufacturing into a more efficient service at the fingertips of companies of all sizes.”

Marek Lehmann, board member of Teuto Seed Club, adds, “We believe that Assemblean will significantly change the market for contract manufacturing with its deep-tech approach.

“The next generation of the German industrial landscape is being actively built here in the region, and we look forward to accompanying this journey at Assemblean with our angel investors.”

Helping startups and companies launch product innovations

Assemblean offers a digital platform that automates supply chain management and production processes for companies across industries. Its services cover component procurement, assembly, and quality control, streamlining manufacturing workflows while reducing costs and lead times.

Founded in 2021 with support from the EXIST Forschungstransfer programme and the EU, the company serves over 100 customers.

Assemblean’s Production as a Service model uses automation to provide startups and SMEs with flexible, scalable manufacturing, helping them overcome challenges in producing innovative products.

Unlike traditional manufacturers or limited on-demand services, Assemblean’s automated approach enables faster production and cost savings of up to one-third, with no restrictions on the range of products it can manufacture.

The company was founded as a spin-off from the Heinz Nixdorf Institute and is supported by garage33, Paderborn University’s startup centre, and the Founders Foundation.

Capital utilisation

Assemblean supports Germany’s role in industrial production by using local talent and university partnerships to develop supply chain automation and manufacturing technologies.

With funding, Assemblean plans to improve its platform, simplify supply chain processes, and offer production solutions.

Assemblean co-founder, Dr.-Ing. Xiaojun Yang, says, “Our mission is to make production as easy as possible for our customers. We are creating the infrastructure for manufacturing anything at scale, using our digital platform.”

“We are elated to have won b2venture as a new investor who supports our mission, and we’re looking forward to unlocking new possibilities for startups, SMEs and corporates to build products with our infrastructure.”
