Last update:

Videoplatform Autheos has secured a ‘significant’ amount of funding to expand its services. The money comes from investment firm Holland Venture and US investor Guy Bradley. How significant the new investment exactly is, has not been made public. However, as Holland Venture typically invest in the multiple million euro range, we believe this deal to be as signifcant as Holland Venture’s previous investment in Relay42.

Video is the new black

Autheos is an Amsterdam based startup that was founded in 2012. The company promises ‘many-to-many syndication of video’. That means syndicates product and brand videos for e-commerce businesses. Publishers can automatically deliver their product videos to e-commerce platforms worldwide through Autheos. For webshops this makes it easy to implement videos to push conversion up. Among them are sites such as Bol.com, Wehkamp, Nextail and ECI. Within the Benelux region, Autheos has over 70 percent market share.

International expansion

With the fresh funding, they’re aiming for more countries, says Pyke van Dieren, CEO at Autheos. “Research proves that brand and product videos improve sales conversion rates on e-commerce sites, by up to 64 percent. Our clients also love our network for the time and cost efficiencies that it affords their organizations. We work in a constant feedback and product iteration loop to continuously improve the client experience. This additional financing will allow us to both speed up that process and broaden our market share internationally.”

Strengthen the team

According to the press release, Holland Venture and Guy Bradley will be bringing in more than just money. They’ll also actively advise the company. Niels van Aalten, partner at Holland Venture, says: “Autheos solves a tangible problem for global brands and has a very scalable proposition. We’re very excited about supporting Autheos in their international growth together with VC-veteran Guy Bradley.” Bradley is the founding partner of CMGI @ventures already in 1995, which went on to invest in platforms like Lycos and Geocities. Besides the new investors serving as advisors, Autheos will also strengthen their team with Christina Caljé, the current COO at Peerby.
