Last update:

Czech-born Better Stack, a startup that helps developers with observability solutions with collaboration tools, has secured an additional $10M (nearly €9.17M) in funding from European early-stage investor KAYA, a previous supporter of the company.

Notable angel investors, including Aaron Levie (Box CEO) and Kulpreet Singh (ex-UiPath), are joining the funding round.

Better Stack, backed by investors such as Creandum, Susa Ventures, and K5 Global, had raised $18.6M, with support from figures like Ryan Petersen (Flexport founder) and Zach Sims (Codecademy founder). The company counts Docplanner, Rohlik, and Booksy among its existing backers.

The Czech-born startup, now San-Francisco-based, achieved unintentional profitability while maintaining aggressive growth in 2023, retaining previous venture funding.

Better Stack’s mission

Founded in 2021 by Veronika Kolejak and Juraj Masar, Better Stack streamlines software development for faster and higher-quality outcomes by offering well-designed observability tools.

The company’s platform integrates monitoring, logging, incident management, and status pages into a unified solution.

Co-founder Kolejak explains, “Take 10 engineers off the street and ask them: are you fluent in Datadog Query Language, New Relic Query Language, AWS CloudWatch Query Language, PromQL, LogQL… and 9 out of 10 will say no.”

“But every engineer knows SQL, which is why with Better Stack, we’re making it the querying standard for software observability. And this is just one of the decisions we made that makes us ‘just work’ for so many engineers.”

“We’re known to be the best tool for alerting the right engineer when something goes wrong. The new dashboards give engineering teams the tools they need to collaborate on fixing the root cause faster than ever before.”

By 2023, Better Stack has gained traction with over 200,000 developers and 4,000 customers, including notable names like Time Magazine, Salesforce, ESET, Accenture, Decathlon, and Rakuten. Additionally, startups such as Brave, Hugging Face, Apollo, and Drata and non-profits like Unicef and Raspberry Pi also use Better Stack.

The company has a global presence, with a team spanning the US, Canada, Colombia, Netherlands, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, and Rwanda, featuring early team members with experience at Google, Shopify, Productboard, and Pipedrive.
