Budapest-based Bitrise, a mobile DevOps platform, has announced plans to launch a data centre in the Netherlands in response to increased demand for data residency within the European Union (EU).
“In an era of geopolitical volatility and increasing regulatory complexity, mobile innovation in Europe demands sovereignty, speed, and security,” says Barnabás Birmacher, CEO and Co-founder of Bitrise. “By launching the first EU-hosted DevOps Platform, Bitrise is giving customers total control over their data, ensuring compliance and empowering them to scale development faster and more securely.”
The new data centre will be the first in the EU run by a DevOps platform. It will provide businesses with a fully managed solution that meets the region’s data security and compliance needs.
The Hungarian scale-up and YC alum will invest $3M in the project, supporting the anticipated 22 per cent year-on-year growth in European data centre capacity in 2025.
This investment in a data centre in Amsterdam is a major step in supporting European Union customers by giving them more flexibility and control.
“We recognise the critical need for sovereign hosting solutions for mobile CI/CD infrastructure in the EU,” Birmacher says. “This move not only strengthens our presence in Europe but underscores our commitment to solving the complex challenges our partners face, allowing them to innovate and scale without compromise.”
Reliable infrastructure for mobile development in the EU and UK
Bitrise will use the successful data centre model from the United States, providing high-performance infrastructure with Apple M4 and Linux-based systems in Europe.
This allows businesses to choose where their data is stored and ensures they meet necessary regulations.
Bitrise’s Amsterdam data centre will emulate Bitrise’s proven infrastructure model, providing:
- Advanced physical and network security measures
- Full compliance with EU data protection standards
- High-speed connectivity to ensure rapid build times
The new data centre will support all Bitrise products, allowing customers to build, test, and automate their applications while keeping their source code in the EU.
Unlike many DevOps providers that only host in the US, Bitrise’s expansion offers a unique platform that meets data residency and operational resilience needs.
“By filling this gap in the market, we’re addressing a critical need for businesses throughout the EU,” says Birmacher. “Our ability to quickly deploy and scale infrastructure based on our successful US model allows us to move fast and establish a strong presence in this underserved market.”
