Leiria-based BRAINR, a Portuguese modern factory management software provider, has raised €11M in seed funding led by C2 Capital Partners.

Paulo Gaspar, co-founder & CEO of BRAINR, mentions that this is the largest round ever for a company focused on digitising food manufacturing.

Plan and control factory production

BRAINR is an AI-powered, cloud-native MES/MOM platform built for the food and beverage industry.

A Manufacturing Execution System (MES)/Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) platform is software that manages and controls manufacturing processes and operations — from production scheduling and tracking to quality control, inventory, and logistics.

Many food factories still rely on paper, Excel, and manual processes, leading to waste, inefficiencies, and lost competitiveness. BRAINR was founded as a spin-off of one of Europe’s major food production groups to address this challenge by simplifying, automating, and customising factory operations.

The platform digitises operations from the shop floor up, enabling full traceability, real-time visibility, and data-driven decision-making across production, quality, and logistics.

It integrates with ERP systems, factory equipment, and IoT devices, giving plant managers and operators control over production, inventory, and dispatch.

BRAINR’s functionalities include inbound logistics, production planning, warehouse management, quality control, traceability, and dispatch. Users can automate production orders, track raw materials, manage warehouses, and generate detailed reports. Quality controls can be embedded into workflows, inspection results can be tracked, and compliance with industry certifications can be managed.

The company works exclusively with food producers across poultry, meat, dairy, bakery, and ready meals, focusing on challenges such as short shelf lives, dynamic production schedules, and food safety standards.

BRAINR’s goal is to help factories run more efficiently, reduce waste, and strengthen competitiveness through digital transformation.

Capital utilisation

BRAINR will use the funds to take several key steps in its growth. The company plans to expand internationally, bringing its platform to more regions and factories. It will also accelerate research and development in artificial intelligence.

In addition, BRAINR will partner with system integrators to deploy its solution more quickly across multiple factories.

Co-founder Gaspar mentions, “Our mission is clear: to build the digital brain for every food factory. From poultry to bakery, from meat to beverages, we want to help this industry become smarter, safer, and more sustainable.”
