City centres are becoming increasingly congested by traffic, many of which are delivery vehicles. Hence, the European Commission set an ambitious goal of achieving essentially CO2-free city logistics in major urban centres by 2030. In order to achieve this goal, making urban logistics more sustainable is important.
And this is exactly what Amsterdam-based Bringly is trying to do. The startup offers sustainable and same-day delivery service for retailers and e-commerce through its network of bicycle couriers and electric vehicles to deliver quickly, locally, and completely CO2-neutral.
Bringly expands same-day delivery network in Germany
In a recent development, the sustainable shipping platform announced its expansion of its same-day delivery service in Germany for new retailers and web shops. Through Briniglyโs network, they can now also deliver to their customersโ homes by bicycle or EVs the same day.
Bringlyโs CEO and co-founder, Rajiv Laigsingh says, โLast year we started local same-day deliveries in 3 cities in Germany. We then optimised the delivery processes and services with our existing customers and local partners. We started local โShip-from-Storeโ, but then also introduced national deliveries. We are proud that with our platform we can now also offer CO2-neutral and same-day deliveries to new retailers and web shops in Germany.โ
The company reports, after launching its services in Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg, more than 10 new cities have joined for CO2-neutral and same-day delivery in Germany.
Bringlyโs Head of Partnerships Kas van den Ban, adds, โThe cities in Germany are larger than in the Netherlands and that is why a different approach is needed. Sustainable same-day delivery is not yet the standard in Germany, but thanks to our scalable network of bicycles and electric vehicles and smart software, we are taking steps in the right direction.โ
What does Bringly offer?
Founded in 2019 by Rajiv Laigsingh and Anton Liulichev, Bringly provides a scalable total solution for same-day and sustainable delivery to retailers and web shops. The platform optimises the available (delivery) capacity of couriers at urban level, and delivers parcels quickly and sustainably from shops, hubs, dark stores, and central distribution centers.
Bringly is currently active in more than 40 cities in the Netherlands and Belgium. The sustainable shipping network currently consists of more than 1,200 bicycle couriers and electric carriers.
It earns a commission for each package it successfully delivers. โNext to that we try to customise the first-to-last-mile from retailers by looking at their needs. Itโs possible to customise, for example, parts like custom pick-ups, branded track & trace and monthly reporting. We call this โSustainable-Logistics-As-a-Serviceโ, explains Laigsingh.
The expansion comes after the company raised funding, in March 2021, to further expand its services (inter)nationally. Bringly is currently engaged in a new investment round to further expand the platform and sustainable network for retailers and web shops in Europe.
