Last update:

Denmark-based Capra Robotics, a company that creates autonomous mobile robots to help people, has raised €11.3M in its seed round of funding.

The investment was led by global investors Supernova Invest and Promus Ventures, with additional support from Summiteer and EIFO – Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (DK).

Mike Collett, Founder and Managing Partner at Promus Ventures, says, “We are excited to work with Niels and the entire Capra team to help redefine how autonomous mobile robots operate across numerous environments and platforms.”

“Few AMR companies have the vast experience and proven success as Niels and the Capra team within the robotics industry. We believe this round will further fuel its strong growth and position the company to further scale globally.”

Claude-Sébastien Lerbourg, Investment Director at Supernova Invest, adds, “At Supernova Invest, we are confident that CAPRA’s solution will accelerate the global adoption of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR).”

“Its ease of implementation and competitive edge position CAPRA to unlock a wide range of new applications, addressing critical labour shortages and delivering significant productivity gains across industries. Niels’ outstanding expertise and proven success in mobile robotics is invaluable, we are excited to support this new venture and contribute to its future success.”

Creating mobile robots to help people everywhere

According to Capra Robotics, faced with challenges such as low unemployment, rising labour costs, and an ageing population, businesses are increasingly turning to innovative robotics to stay competitive, scale operations, and meet process standards in established and emerging sectors.

This is where Capra Robotics looks to make a difference. Founded in 2019, the company aims to create mobile robots that assist people across various industries.

Capra Robotics specialises in versatile mobile robot solutions for industries such as logistics, inspection, and maintenance. Its platform adapts to both indoor and outdoor environments, providing automation for tasks like material handling, perimeter control, and urban maintenance.

The company focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability with user-friendly and reliable robotic solutions.

In logistics, Capra Robotics bridges indoor and outdoor logistics to improve material flow across facilities. In inspection, it provides solutions for perimeter control and substation inspection, enhancing security and operations. In maintenance, the company offers robot solutions to help industries reduce emissions, minimise waste, and improve safety in modern cities.

Simon Frederik Loft Øelund, Tech Investor at EIFO, says, “With their unique AI-driven mobile robot solutions Capra Robotics automates logistical challenges in some of the largest international industrial companies. At the same time, they make it possible to inspect and monitor hard-to-reach critical energy infrastructure.”

“These are two important agendas for EIFO – and since we are very impressed with the management team’s innovative abilities and plans for the future, we are excited to support their journey and continued impact worldwide.”

Capital utilisation

Capra Robotics will use the funds to accelerate growth and global expansion. Since launching its first product in 2023, the company has gained recognition for its material handling solution, which bridges indoor and outdoor logistics operations.

Utilising its momentum, the company will continue to drive growth by establishing top-tier partnerships with distributors and system integrators, enabling deeper engagement with global key accounts and valuable end customers, a list already counting Lockheed Martin, Robert Bosch, ZF Friedrichshafen, the US Air Force, and Deutsche Telekom.

The investment will give way to faster entry into new geographical markets and boost its workforce within sales as well as service and support, predominantly in Europe and North America. The recent establishment of Capra Robotics Inc., the company’s US-based subsidiary further amplifies its global presence as they gear up for wide-scale deployment in North America.

Capra Robotics will also use the proceeds to strengthen partnerships with distributors and system integrators, expanding engagement with key global accounts like Lockheed Martin and Deutsche Telekom.

The funds will support faster market entry, particularly in Europe and North America, and expand the sales and service workforce. The company’s new US-based subsidiary, Capra Robotics Inc., enhances its presence in North America, preparing for large-scale deployments.

Niels Jul Jacobsen, CEO of Capra Robotics, says, “The investment depicts a strong group of investors’ confidence in our vision and the scale of opportunities ahead. Having investors from both the US and Europe not only strengthens our ability to scale rapidly but also provides invaluable insights and networks that will help us expand into new markets and better serve our customers and partners across the globe.”
