The Dutch company raised €300K from InnovationQuarter and the Municipality of The Hague to further develop the platform to launch it on the market next year.

“With Carepool, we want to show that things can be done differently. Less hassle, more dignity, and truly participating in society,” says Julie de Lange, co-founder of Carepool, to Innovation Quarter.

Carepool: Arranging care from personal budget

Julie de Lange, Heike Faber, and Maarten Holl founded Carepool in 2024 to streamline the process of arranging care by automating planning and administrative tasks.

The idea for Carepool was inspired by Julie’s experience with personal budgets, which highlighted the difficulties she faced in arranging the necessary care for her work.

It took her months to organise the support she needed.

“Sometimes I spend weeks arranging care when I have to go away for a day for work. I have to set up a whole lot of paperwork, even if it’s just a one-time thing,” says Julie.

The app seeks to streamline the process of arranging care by automating planning and administrative tasks.

This reduces the time personal budget holders spend on organisation, allowing them to redirect their energy toward work and social interactions.

At present, Carepool addresses three major societal challenges in healthcare — reducing staff shortages, easing regulatory burdens, and increasing participation, reports Innovation Quarter.

Testing pilot in Haaglanden region

Currently, Carepool is conducting tests of an initial version of the platform in the Haaglanden region in collaboration with Basalt Rehabilitation and Voorall.

This pilot is made possible in part by the ZorgTech innovation program, through Kansen voor West.

The company plans to deliver a complete solution within the next two years that effectively integrates searching, planning, and administration into the daily lives of personal budget holders.

Hans, Senior Investment Manager at InnovationQuarterCapital, noted, “Carepool represents an innovative solution tailored to a specific target group within an often-overlooked segment of the healthcare market. Their vision and determination are poised to positively impact care recipients.”
