Cologne-based Certif-ID, a blockchain-based ‘Future of Work’ platform that connects education to technical skills employment, announced on Tuesday, May 2, that it has secured €1.6M in a Seed round of funding.
The investment was led by NRW-Bank and angel investors Andreas Weinberger, Malte Pollmann (Supervisory Board Utimaco Group), Jörg Will (Partner at IFP Executive Search), and Michael Bernhörster (Head of Advisory, Schilling Group).
Capital utilisation
Certif-ID says it will use the funds to further develop its technology platform and expand its activities in Asia and Europe.
Tim Miller, co-founder of Certif-ID, says, “The demand for skilled manpower across the world has never been stronger. Yet the recruitment, skill verification and visa issuance processes are slow to adapt.”
“The urgent need to automate and digitise these processes is crucial to minimise any adverse economic impact,” adds Miller.
“Creating trust in international technical recruitment”
Founded in 2020 by Markus Dohm and Tim Miller, Certif-ID provides technological solutions that increase confidence in global technical recruiting. A company’s platform, TalentSure, links recognised experts with companies, speeds up the hiring process, and automates procedures.
“Our technology and service portfolio digitises credentials, builds verifiable talent pipelines, automates skill recognition and minimises cross-border recruitment efforts,” says the company.
The founder’s commitment to empowering individuals through education led to the creation of Certif-ID. Working at a huge global company’s training division, they saw firsthand the unrealised potential of gifted people from nations like India.
They were moved by the discrepancy in opportunities, and made the decision to do something about it. This led to the start of a business that would check foreign diplomas, allowing these people to follow their aspirations on a worldwide level.
Certif-ID focuses on automating and digitising the hiring process in the fields of engineering, logistics, and healthcare. More than 300,000 customers from 32 countries have enrolled for its TalentSure product line, which also has 16,000 job offers.
The platform uses blockchain technology to make candidate applications transparent and reliable.
Certif-ID also offers a second product line, CredSure. It is a SaaS platform that helps businesses digitise their certifications and provides graduates with a contemporary means of digital communication via badges.
Graduates of educational institutions receive digital badges that can be used to demonstrate and validate newly acquired capabilities that are in line with market demands.
Currently, the company employs 20 people in India and Germany.
