Den Haag-based Circularise, a Dutch supply chain transparency software provider that uses blockchain technology to enable circular economy at scale, has closed a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) with Japan-based SEKISUI CHEMICAL.
Besides the funding, SEKISUI CHEMICAL and Circularise are partnering to collaborate on a joint project for chemicals traceability.
The initiative includes introducing a digital product passport and testing mass balance traceability software within SEKISUI CHEMICALโs supply chain.
Founded in 1947, the SEKISUI CHEMICAL Group is dedicated to improving lives and safeguarding the environment. The group asserts its leadership with top global market shares in interlayer film, foam products, conductive particles, and various other sectors.
A strategic investment
SEKISUIโs SAFE investment not only provides capital for Circularise but also sets the stage for the upcoming Series B funding round. This strategic investment will facilitate Circulariseโs expansion in the chemicals market.
Jordi de Vos, co-founder of Circularise says, โOur alliance with SEKISUI CHEMICAL is more than a strategic partnership, itโs a vote of confidence in the circular economy future weโre building together.โ
โWeโre thrilled to channel these resources into further growth and to amplify our impact on sustainability in the petrochemical world.โ
A representative from SEKISUI CHEMICAL adds, โSEKISUI CHEMICAL Group aims to realise a circular economy through our business by working with the supply chain, minimising the amount of fossil-derived materials used, and promoting resource recycling.โ
โOur investment in Circularise is a strategic move towards embracing digital transformation in our supply chain. By partnering with Circularise, we want to pilot a digital product passport in our operations, marking a significant step in enhancing chemicals traceability and sustainability.โ
Supply chain transparency software provider
Founded in 2016, Circularise specialises in digital product passports and mass balance bookkeeping software.
Catering to industries such as chemicals, plastics, battery materials, and metals, Circularise enables suppliers to trace materials and share environmental footprints without compromising sensitive data.
The platform assists brands in gaining visibility into Scope 3 emissions, aligning with regulatory trends such as digital product passports, the SECโs proposed climate risk disclosure rules, and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
We created Circularise to radically shift the global economy to the circular model. We want to make it easier and more secure for people and organisations to exchange information about products and materials needed for sustainable living.
