Last update:

Antwerp-based ClimateCamp, a SaaS startup that helps companies engage with their suppliers on their carbon emissions, announced on Wednesday, November 23, that it has raised €700K in a pre-Seed round of funding. The investment was made by Delaware, LeanSquare, Airborn, and DDM.

With a campaign for brewers, ClimateCamp launched the exclusive preview of its platform six months ago. The startup is being used by more than 15 per cent of Belgian breweries to cut emissions throughout their supply chains.

ClimateCamp is prepared to expand to the larger European food and beverage sector, which is responsible for 37 per cent of the world’s carbon emissions. The raised capital will help the startup to spread the sustainability platform throughout the whole food and beverage industry.

Showing the real CO2 emissions of suppliers instead of benchmarks

Food and beverage companies are required to control Scope 3 emissions of greenhouse gases in their supply chain. Up until now, this has been really challenging. By fostering collaboration among all food and beverage industry stakeholders, ClimateCamp aims to address today’s increasingly strict regulations on scope 3 reporting (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, IFRS…) so that businesses can set reliable science-based targets and monitor the success of their reduction efforts.

Instead of relying on benchmarks, industry averages, or one-time initiatives like manual supplier surveys and consultancy engagements, ClimateCamp provides access to real data and insights regarding suppliers’ efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.

Every member of the value chain is included in the platform, which also gathers real and primary data directly from the source, enhances the quality of emissions calculations, offers insights into the goals set by suppliers, and provides scalable and repeatable methods for businesses to achieve results in almost real-time and automate regulatory reporting. The company says that this solution is particularly relevant to the food & beverages Industry.
