Amsterdam-based Cooper Pet Care, a pet healthcare provider, announced on Monday that it has raised €900K in a fresh round of funding. The startup is on a mission to give pets a better and healthier life by providing their parents with an effortless pet healthcare solution.
The investment came from Singapore-based global early-stage venture capital firm Antler, London-based VC firm Flyer One Ventures, and other VCs and business angels.
Co-founder of Cooper Pet Care, Michael Fisher, says, “With the fresh capital injection, we plan to scale Cooper Pet Care operations and expand into new geographies. We plan on becoming the leading online vet service in the Benelux region.”
Ronald Jan Schuurs, Partner at Antler, says, “The pet health care market is booming, driven by increasing pet ownership spurred by the Covid pandemic, pet humanisation, and pet lifespan. At the same time, traditional vet care is an under-served pet-owning community, especially concerning product and mobile-first millennials. We believe there is still a large market to be won in continental Europe with room for newcomers such as Cooper Pet Care with a digital solution. Michael and Pavel impressed us with their continuous drive, innovative views, and traction, and we believe they are the right team to tackle this market.”
A mobile-first pet care platform
Founded in 2021 by Michael Fisher and Pavel Timofeev, Cooper Pet Care provides online veterinarian services to modern pet owners.
The startup was founded after taking part in the Antler Amsterdam programme in 2020. Antler contributed to the pre-seed round of Cooper Pet Care. The two founders met at Antler and joined forces to combine their ten years of startup, consulting, and software development expertise.
Through Cooper Pet Care’s platform, users can book a video consultation with certified veterinarians to discuss their pet’s symptoms and get advice on pet healthcare, nutrition, or on behavioural topics. Instant access to a qualified veterinarian online lowers the bar for obtaining veterinary care and enables clients to do so from the comfort of their homes.
The company’s platform also provides an AI-powered symptom checker, a feature that enables quick triage of symptoms and prompts the next steps to be taken.
Vital Laptenok, General Partner at Flyer One Ventures, says, “We are highly impressed by both co-founders’ deep expertise. Michael Fisher has solid operational expertise, while Pavel Timofeev is a highly experienced technical leader. All this expertise led to an exciting product for the growing PetTech market. Finally, we were impressed by the team’s efficiency in capital utilisation, resource management, and product development. Altogether, we are glad to have the opportunity to support the team.”
