Stockholm-based memmo.me is a video greeting platform that offers and distributes personalised video messages from celebrities to fans and businesses. In a recent development, the platform announced that it raised another €10.25M in funding, following its Series A round in February 2021. In addition, this company has also opened an office in Los Angeles.
The company had raised €8.2M ($10M) in its Series A funding round. Including the current funding, it has raised total funding of €20M to date.
Celebrity video greeting platform
Founded in 2019, memmo came into being after Gustav Lundberg Toresson and Tobias Bengtsdahl realised the impact of personal contact with inspiring people. As a user, you send a request for a specific message – a greeting, an internal joke, or a few fancy words for a big speech – and the talent or celebrity decides what videos they want to perform for a predetermined price. The video is recorded, sent, and paid for directly via the platform.
The company reports that hundreds of thousands of videos have been sent via its platform. Messages include praises on COVID-19 vaccinations, life advice, award announcements, persuading friends to stay together, love letters, baby shower and wedding invitations, spiritual readings, and quizzes, among others.
The platform also enables creators to offer social media collaborations and sell their own products, merchandise, and services.
Some of the celebrities available on the platform include Jesse Metcalfe (actor in Desperate Housewives), Tori Spelling (actress and author), Dikembe Mutombo (NBA star), Chuck Lidell (UFC star and Hollywood actor), and LuAnn de Lesseps (television personality, model, author, and singer).
Toresson further adds, “Demand for connecting with our talent is continually growing, and we are onboarding more and more household names to the platform every single day.”
The proceeds from this round will be used to continue memmo.me’s global expansion, including to Latin America, and develop new product features like social media interactions.
Speaking on the development, Gustav Lundberg Toresson, says, “We are on the path to becoming the go-to platform for creators and fans to interact. We have already cemented our position as the leading player within Europe and Canada, and have so much momentum behind us as we open our first office in LA, and continue to launch into new markets around the world.”
Since memmo.me’s Series A funding in February, the company witnessed a 40 per cent monthly growth, and has expanded its global team from 20 to over 60 employees. Currently, the company is operational in the Nordic region, Canada, the UK, and across Europe.
