Amsterdam-based Cruit, a recruitment referral platform, announced on Tuesday, March 7, that it has raised fresh funding. The amount of funding has not been disclosed.

The round was led by Amsterdam-based venture capital firm Slingshot Ventures. Various prominent angel investors in the HR industry, including investors from TestGorilla, Rodeo and Workify, also participated.

Slingshot Ventures invests in the future of digital consumer life, from pre-Seed up to Series A and beyond. It backs the next-generation entrepreneurs, who are building companies with strong brands, happy customers and healthy margins.

Marco Pieters, Managing Partner at Slingshot Ventures, says, “We are very excited about working together with Steye and his team. We believe that their platform can optimise a key bottleneck in every (growing) business; hiring. By turning literally everyone with a network into a ‘Cruiter’, the platform allows for quicker, higher quality and better-retaining hires.”

Cruit: Everything you need to know

Founded in 2021 by Zenno Bruinsma, Thijs Visser, Yuri Sturkenboom, and Steye Kaersenhout, Cruit is a mobile-only referral platform that helps businesses find qualified applicants for open jobs by turning employees and communities into the #1 source of candidates.

Through the app, people can monitor their referrals, exchange tasks, and receive rewards using their programme. Due to the high mobile-only interaction, Cruit centralises, optimises, and extends referral programmes, which significantly lowers the cost-per-hire.

By rewarding employees and community members who recommend eligible applicants, Cruit enables companies to access a sizable pool of job seekers and considerably enhances their hiring procedure.

Recently, Cruit released its Public app. With this, anyone who got the Cruit app can share tasks and make an average of €2,000 per hire. By doing this, businesses can access untapped networks and grow their recommendation programme by more than 40 per cent.

Capital utilisation

Cruit says it will use the funds to expand its team, enhance its platform, and accelerate its growth.

Kaersenhout says, “We’re thrilled to have the support of Slingshot Ventures and these experienced angel investors. Their investment will help us continue to innovate and improve our platform.”

“It will make it even easier for companies to find the best candidates through employee and community referrals. With their amazing network and knowledge, we can accelerate our sales and product development.”

Cruit claims to have witnessed considerable success as it claims that many businesses have reported better recruiting results and increased employee involvement after using the platform. One of their launching clients was Crisp, an online supermarket.
