The round was led by neoteq ventures, an experienced early-stage investor, with participation from NRW.BANK, Aquarius Invest, Meerkat Holding, Campus Capital and several strategic business angels.

Based out of Cologne, neoteq ventures is an early-stage VC focused on supporting founding teams from the very beginning in building companies that change industries.

The VC invest in companies from the (pre-)seed stage to Series A that can solve a relevant customer problem with their product, regardless of their industry, and have the potential to become market leaders in their market segment.

B.J. Park, Managing Partner, neoteq ventures, says, “Detechgene is tackling a global challenge with a solution that’s fast, mobile and precise – without compromising on the standards of laboratory diagnostics. What impressed us is not just the technology, but the execution strength of the team. We’re proud to support this kind of deep tech innovation coming out of Cologne.”

The German biotech firm will use the funds to make laboratory diagnostics accessible to everyone – fast, mobile and reliable.

Detechgene: Simple and precise detection

Detechgene was founded in 2022 by Dr. Reza Esmaillie and Dr. Robin Bayer as a spin-off from the Nephrolab at the University Hospital Cologne Medicine II.

At the core of Detechgene’s mission is the development of a rapid test procedure, which combines the precision of a PCR with the ease of use of a rapid antigen test.

The company has developed a cartridge system for rapid nucleic acid detection that meets medical standards.

This system allows for quick and precise detection of pathogens without the need for additional equipment, making it accessible for anyone to use on-site.

Detechgene’s technology provides fast and accurate diagnoses, opening up a range of market opportunities for customised testing solutions.

With its rapid test system ‘PCR to Go’, Detechgene is developing a mobile molecular biology diagnostics solution that can be used anywhere and detects a wide range of pathogens within a very short time.

“We are very grateful to our investors for their confidence in our team and our technology. Together, we are shaping the future of diagnostics – faster, more decentralised and more user-friendly than ever before,” says Reza Esmaillie, Managing Director of Detechgene.
