Last update:

Paris-based Devialet, an audio tech company that offers solutions ranging from ADH intelligence to sound amplification, announced on Wednesday that it has raised €50M in a fresh round of funding.

The round saw participation from existing investors Crédit Mutuel Equity and Bpifrance, via its Large Venture fund. A new Asian strategic investor also joined the round and will provide strategic value for expansions in key markets including Asia, and opportunities for joint product development.

Devialet says it is focusing more on expanding in Asia. The firm has increased both its revenue and the number of points-of-sale in the area in only three years. Devialet built new boutiques in six different countries at that time: China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Asia now accounts for three of Devialet’s five biggest markets in terms of sales.

The new Asian investor, which specialises in the miniaturisation of audio, optical, and touch systems, will also help Devialet to accelerate and keep diversifying its licensing business, particularly in the Asian market.

Capital utilisation

Devialet says it will use the proceeds to maintain its double-digit growth by expanding its worldwide footprint and its licensing strategy.

The funds will also enable Devialet to accelerate its first-party product roadmap. Through an ambitious product strategy, the company, which recently entered two new categories (wireless earbuds and home theatre), is continuing to commit itself to breaking into new markets and reaching new customers.

Devialet reports that it will continue to pursue research and development initiatives to further strengthen its patent portfolio and retain its leading position at the forefront of audio technology innovation. Devialet already benefits from having over 200 patented technologies.

Devialet – an acoustic engineering technology company

Founded in 2007 by Pierre-Emmanuel Calmel, Emmanuel Nardin and Quentin Sannié, Devialet’s mission is to put sound back at its true place in people’s life. The company is rooted in a series of patented innovations, including its Expert Pro amplifiers and connected Phantom speakers.

Among many innovations, according to Devialet, its most notable technologies are ADH (first pioneer patent filed in 2004), numerous acoustic and microelectronic technologies, and SAM (Speaker Active Matching) technology.

Devialet’s main advancement in sound amplification is called ADH, or Analog Digital Hybrid technology. It combines the subtlety of analogue amplification with the strength and portability of digital technology. SAM technology offers the “best” sound reproduction possible taking into account the speaker’s physical characteristics.

Since 2017, the company has also strengthened its licensing activity portfolio alongside its first-party range, offering partners custom-made acoustic solutions that leverage the company’s know-how and tech.
