The need for social distancing even over short distances has led to the rise of the micro-mobility sector. And Amsterdam-based micro-mobility company Dott wants to take advantage of this growth.
Today, the startup announced its plans to launch a new e-bike in some of Europe’s largest cities, and the appointment of a Netherlands General Manager to lead expansion into the Dutch market.
This expansion into the Netherlands market follows the company’s recent growth into new cities including Oslo and Helsinki.
New e-bike for Europe
Dott will launch its new e-bike on 12th October. A fleet of 10,000 e-bikes will be available by the end of the year, initially in Paris followed by Rome, Brussels, and London.
The company will offer its new e-bikes along with its e-scooters, allowing users to choose the type of environmentally friendly vehicle that’s best for them. With speeds up to 25kph, e-bikes provide an efficient way to move across a city, free from congestion, and without causing pollution.
Speaking on the development, Maxim Romain, COO & co-founder of Dott says, “This Autumn marks a new chapter for Dott, with the launch of our new e-bike offering a new way for people to travel sustainably in cities. Alongside this new fleet, we continue to expand in new markets, and look forward to offering our service in the Netherlands, home of Dott headquarters and all product developments!”
Dott’s new General Manager for the Netherlands
Sven Jaspers will join Dott this month to lead the company’s expansion into the Netherlands. He will be responsible for identifying key strategic Dutch cities and working closely with partners and city authorities to implement Dott’s operation. Jaspers will also build a team to bring Dott into the country which has been home to its HQ since launching in 2019.
The new General Manager brings expertise in tech-driven and sustainable businesses. Previously, Jaspers was Director of Strategy and Product Development at Vattenfall InCharge, an electric vehicle charging provider.
Recently, Sven completed an ExecutiveMBA at the Quantic School for Business and Technology.
Jaspers says, “It is a great time to be joining Dott as they continue to grow. I look forward to working as part of this European leader in shared micro-mobility, and collaborating closely with Dutch cities to integrate our services in a responsible way.”
