Dutch startup BrandBikes came up with an clever way to make the most out of the cycling-craze in the Netherlands: offer branded company bikes to employees. Â They claim to do it “in a subtle way, so that the employee will not become a loud advertisement sign.”
“Bus stop ads disappear after a month; our branded bikes will be in the streets for years” according to the founders of BrandBikes. Besides branding the branded bikes also create healthier employees and it contributes to the corporate responsibility of a company. Koen and Floris mentioned that they’ve consciously chosen for a
How is it started?
BrandBikes is born in Malmo, Sweden. To be more precise, in a local coffee bar named Wayne’s Coffee. In Sweden Koen & Floris acquired their master’s degree in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Lund University. During their weekly search for the best coffee places in town they always discussed their most exciting ideas to start a business together, until they came up with the idea to start BrandBikes. This idea exploits both their strong points and really feels like a synergy to them.
For who is it?
Companies which have employee health and branding as a priority. Additionally, you can also think about hotels which offer bikes to their guests as an additional service. Furthermore, you can think about a company like Coca-Cola which organizes a give-away for their customers.
Faces behind BrandBikes
Koen & Floris are best friends since elementary school. Other than you might expect from best friends, they quite differ from each other in terms of interests. So is Koen very unhandy and gives Floris a blank stare when he asks for the ratchet to mount the front wheel of our bikes. Unhandy you might think, but the technical qualities Koen misses, he compensates for with his ability to truly understand the customer, design awesome bikes and not to forget our online marketing and positioning. Floris compensates for the clumsiness of Koen with his rich experience acquired at the technical university and his work-related experience. Floris loves to step into a technical minefield in order to create something better than others.
