Last update:

Netherlands-based Enatom, a company that has developed a next-gen anatomy app for the medical education sector, has secured €900K in funding from LUMO Labs, NOM and UNETI Ventures.

Sven Bakkes, Founding Partner at LUMO Labs, says, “Enatom operates at the crossroads of two of our key impact goals; quality education, and good health and wellbeing.”

“Our investment in Enatom reflects our belief that this team of relentless impact-driven entrepreneurs can and will transform anatomical education around the world. By doing so, they will improve the lives of many.”

Wadim de Boon, Investment Manager at UNETI Ventures, adds, “Realistic anatomy education is essential for various medical courses. Enatom’s 3D photorealistic platform has the potential to make these more accessible and efficient.”

“We believe that will become valuable as it indirectly alleviates some pressure from the declining care capacity. We are excited to help Enatom realise its potential.”

Anatomy for the healthcare professional of tomorrow

Founded in 2022 by Lusanne Tehupuring, Fabian Debats, Stefan Vogelzang and Bastiaan Hofsteenge, Enatom specialises in advanced 3D visualisation for human anatomy education.

The company’s web app enhances learning by providing realistic digital anatomy experiences accessible anywhere, aiming to bridge the gap between theory and practice for improved learning outcomes.

Enatom’s ‘virtual dissection room’ is accessible to healthcare students and professionals on their personal devices like laptops, tablets, and VR headsets, offering flexibility in learning anytime and anywhere.

The platform uses photorealistic scans of real human specimens and point-cloud techniques to stream complex data. This approach surpasses traditional learning methods in accessibility and effectiveness, providing a detailed and interactive educational experience.

Co-founder Debats says, “Our meticulous approach to scanning human specimens and our deep respect and understanding of the intricacies of the human body, position us as a highly reliable resource for educational institutions.”

Capital utilisation

Enatom plans to enhance its ‘virtual dissection room’ technology with this funding, focusing on advancing technical capabilities and expanding its sales teams.

Additionally, the funds will bolster Enatom’s presence in health education. Currently operating in over six European countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria, Enatom aims to expand its global reach.

Lusanne Tehupuring, CEO of Enatom, says, “We want to make comprehensive anatomical education universally accessible and engaging.”

“We give it our all to become the market leader in high-end 3D anatomy visualisation for training and educating healthcare students/professionals worldwide and we are immensely excited to now have these renowned investors by our side towards reaching that goal.”

This investment builds upon earlier funding from G-Force Capital and Triade Investments, which supported the development and validation of Enatom’s approach and technology.

Enatom collaborated with institutions like UMCG, the Medical University of Vienna, and Amsterdam University Medical Center during this phase of growth and validation.
