Enschede, the Netherlands-based Aluvia Photonics, a developer of Aluminium Oxide (AlOx) photonic integrated circuits (PICs), announced that it has secured new funding from PhotonDelta. However, the exact figures were not disclosed.
This funding will help Aluvia improve its technology and work closely with others in the PhotonDelta network.
It will allow the company to accelerate current projects and seek new opportunities with customers and suppliers.
The funding will also provide Aluvia with a strategic boost as the company prepares for a new investment round in 2026, aimed at scaling up its manufacturing operations.
“We’re delighted to have Aluvia in the PhotonDelta ecosystem and now also as one of our promising startup portfolios,” says Erwin Holtland, Investment Manager, PhotonDelta. “We’re excited about the opportunities now possible with their technology and see strong potential across our portfolio. The partnership acts as both a multiplier and an accelerator for our companies, while supporting Aluvia’s growth and helping them scale their products.”

Aluvia Photonics was founded in 2022 as a spin-off from the University of Twente.
The company builds on more than a decade of research and development in photonics to provide advanced integrated solutions.
Specialising in aluminium oxide (AlOx)-based photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technologies, Aluvia delivers high-performance solutions for applications in telecommunications, data communications, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and more.
Aluvia’s AlOx platform offers compact and scalable waveguides and amplifiers for the Photonic Chip ecosystem.
It focuses on applications in telecommunications, quantum computing, and UV-visible areas where traditional solutions fall short.
The platform works well with existing photonic chip technologies, allowing for easy integration and improved performance.
“The Netherlands has been the fastest-growing market for our MPW product in recent years, with design and packaging collaborations in the region playing an important role in serving our global customer base,” said Steve Stoffels, CEO of Aluvia Photonics. “With PhotonDelta’s support, we can do even more – and do it faster – expanding local capabilities, strengthening the ecosystem, and accelerating innovation across the photonics sector.”
