Last update:

Oslo, Norway-based Equality Check, a platform for anonymous crowdsourced reviews about equality in their workplace, announced that it has raised €1.25M in its Seed round of funding. The raised capital will help the company to fund its product development and international expansion.

Investors

The round was led by Norwegian VC fund Alliance Venture. Additionally, several angel investors and existing investor Antler also participated in the current round.

Speaking on the development, Alliance Venture’s managing partner, Johan Gjesdahl, says, “We believe diverse and inclusive organisations attract the best talent. With capital readily available, attracting and retaining key employees is crucial. We also believe the focus on diversity and inclusion from both the public and regulatory authorities is here to stay and will only become more important in the coming years.”

Equality in the workplace

Equality Check creates better workplaces through increased transparency and accountability, with its digital platform offering insights into opportunities for employee advancement and growth regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or age in individual companies.

Founded in 2018 by Marie Louise Sunde and Isabelle Ringnes, the company offers a platform for anyone to leave a review about a former or current job and find other companies they will have the opportunity to succeed. On the platform, when five employees have reviewed a workplace, only then the information goes public.

Moreover, Equality Check also provides B2B solutions, wherein it helps companies map their gender imbalance and provides evidence-based solutions for how to improve. It offers companies their own progress, in terms of promoting and maintaining progressive gender equality policies, through data, transparency, and accountability.

Recent developments

In recent months, Equality Check has entered into collaborations with one of Norway’s leading news outlets, E24, as well as KPMG. The company has also acquired some of Norway’s largest organisations as paying customers.

In addition to data collection and analysis, Equality Check supports organisations with reporting on new legislation requirements related to their diversity numbers and efforts, as mandatory under Norwegian law.

Marie Louise Sunde, founder and CEO of Equality Check says, “All organisations need help to interpret their own data, understand where they can improve and learn what measures to implement to improve diversity and inclusion.”
