Everbridge acquires one2many, launches first unified public warning system to combat coronavirus pandemic

Proper communication is a crucial factor when it comes to besting a pandemic. In order to deploy an advanced warning system, the US-based critical communications and enterprise safety applications company Everbridge has acquired the Netherlands-based cell broadcast pioneer one2many. With this acquisition, Everbridge has also launched a unified public warning platform to combat the coronavirus pandemic on a global scale. Acquisition details have not been released, yet. 

Industry’s First Unified Public Warning Platform to combat Covid-19

The new Public Warning System (PWS) is a hybrid system that combines Everbridge’s location-based mobile messaging with best cell broadcast offering. With the acquisition, the companies aim to deliver a mobile-optimized, full-lifecycle solution for countrywide population alerting while meeting and exceeding EU regulatory and other global initiatives. The new system is said to be the only public warning system that combines cell-broadcast and address-, group-, and location-based, multi-channel technologies.

David Meredith, CEO of Everbridge says, “Now with the talented team and technology of one2many, the company that set the standard for how cell broadcasts should be used for safety, we significantly extend our lead in both technology and know-how to help governments around the world protect their residents and visitors while exceeding regulatory mandates,” 

The Unified PWS helps protect against the novel coronavirus in a myriad of ways. It enables countries to share updates on best practices to follow during the pandemic, along with viral hotspots to watch out for. Coordinating first responders and healthcare resources to establish two-way communications with vulnerable populace is also possible. Disruptions to transportation, education and other critical services can also be managed with the new PWS system.
