Based out of Munich, Viessmann Generations Group is a purpose-driven family ecosystem, delivering solutions to urgent global priorities: reducing greenhouse gases, improving air and water quality, securing food systems, advancing health and well-being, strengthening education and science, and upholding democratic values.
“Our investment in everwave is another milestone in our efforts to promote groundbreaking solutions with real ecological added value,” says Max Viessmann, CEO and President of the Viessmann Generations Group. “Their practical and measurable approach to water purification not only reduces plastic waste but also protects one of our most important resources: clean water. Together, we are transforming responsibility into concrete action and shaping living spaces for future generations.”
KSK-Wagniskapital, a regional venture capital firm linked to Kreissparkasse Köln, also participated as a new shareholder.
Existing investors, such as SistaAct, are involved as well.
The European Social Innovation and Impact Fund is also investing in this financing round, alongside Cologne-based capacura and NRW.Bank.
The German company will use the funds to expand its international projects, including new sites in Southeast Asia.
The partnership with Viessmann will help develop sustainable solutions to address environmental issues.
“We are proud to welcome the Viessmann Generations Group and KSK-Wagniskapital GmbH as renowned investors in everwave,” says Clemens Feigl, CEO & Co-Founder of everwave.
“Especially now, this is an important signal to the market, as sustainability is in danger of being overlooked in many places. Yet we need more impact companies that develop concrete solutions to global challenges. With this funding, we can significantly expand our international activities.”
Recovered 2 million kilograms of waste
The funding announcement comes three months after successfully recovering 2 million kilograms of waste from rivers, equivalent to 60 million plastic bottles.
“Lined up, that would stretch from Munich to Cambodia and back again,” says the company.
The journey began in 2020 when the first kilogram of waste was recovered from the Hron River in Slovakia.
Since then, the company has expanded its fleet of specialised waste collection boats and launched projects in Cambodia, Thailand, and Albania.
The organisation is also leveraging artificial intelligence, utilising drones to detect and analyse waste in waterways more effectively.
everwave: Removing plastic waste
Led by Clemens Feigl, everwave develops technological solutions to remove plastic waste from rivers before it reaches the oceans.
To achieve this, the company relies on highly efficient waste collection boats, barriers, and manual cleanups, supported by AI analytics.
The impact company carries out its projects with independent teams on-site, creating more jobs in the process.
Its main business model is a certified plastic credit system, where every euro spent helps recover one kilogram of plastic waste.
This system allows companies to take clear responsibility for their plastic use.
