Cycloid: Focusing on sustainable platform engineering
Platform engineering is a movement aimed at managing the complexities of multi-cloud systems and providing scalable solutions for organisations.
It allows development teams to create internal platforms that make the developer experience smoother and require less effort.
However, the State of DevOps 2024 reports that it often takes a team of 20 people over three years to build a portal that effectively offers these advantages.
Founded in 2015 by former Red Hat Cloud executive Benjamin Brial, Cycloid focuses on sustainable platform engineering.
The company aims to improve infrastructure and software delivery in organisations while promoting digital sobriety.
Cycloid offers a platform and self-service portal that make it easier for IT teams to work together.
It also encourages responsible practices like GreenOps and FinOps. With a flexible, GitOps-oriented approach, Cycloid helps businesses make their cloud and DevOps projects more efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective.
Recently, Cycloid has seen a strong international demand for its services.
These services help users engage with DevOps and cloud automation tools without needing deep technical knowledge.
The company also supports FinOps and GreenOps practices, which help manage cloud resources efficiently and reduce environmental impact.
The platform includes tools to track cloud costs and carbon footprints, offering a clear view of cloud usage and automation across different cloud environments.
“Self-service IT is about centralizing access to apps, automation, deployment, documentations, cloud, security, FinOps, and GreenOps simply and comprehensively, but portals can take teams years to deliver, and maintenance is complicated and resource intensive,” explains Brial.
“In response, our platform brings the ability to create a portal that is up and running in just a few weeks, making infrastructure, tools, and automation accessible to as many people as possible without the requirement to become a DevOps or Cloud expert. We are delighted today to announce this new round of funding, which confirms the relevance of our mission and our approach to transforming the more sustainable long-term use of cloud and DevOps practices,” he adds.
