Eindhoven-based Globe Protocol announced on Monday, February 13, that it has raised €500K in a fresh round of funding. The startup is working on a digital platform, AnyID, for the exchange of personal information.
The platform aims to give consumers control over their personal data, while businesses can use it to improve their business models. The website will go live in phases and the first pages are already online.
In a statement translated from Dutch, Jasper Meijer van Putten, founder of Globe Protocol, says, “The results of the pilots we have run with our software so far are promising. Thanks to this investment, we can take a big step in the development of the company and thus give people more control over their data on the internet.”
Investors in this round
The funding came from the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and IT expert Simac, together with two informal investors.
BOM assists entrepreneurs in receiving the support and funding they require to develop ‘critical’ technologies, healthy futures, climate-neutral energy, and sustainable food sources. Additionally, it also helps in their development into scale-ups and businesses with worldwide aspirations.
BOM serves as the executive branch for the Province of Brabant and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.
Investment Manager at BOM, Robin Hendrickx, says, “Digital sovereignty is an important spearhead for BOM. AnyID gives citizens full control over sharing personal data again. And they are also rewarded for sharing data, instead of all value accrues to Big Tech. Globe Protocol has the potential to solve an important societal problem.”
Globe Protocol: Everything you need to know
Founded in 2020, Globe Protocol is creating a platform that prioritises privacy and enables users to share their data with businesses in return for rewards. The system, known as AnyID, allows customers to securely save, share, and access their personal data online with businesses.
It provides businesses with the infrastructure to request particular client data between the data vault and their own Customer Data Platform. Customers can remove their shared data at any time and still retain ownership of their own data.
Direct client data can be acquired by businesses in a way that respects their privacy and complies with GDPR.
Bas van Tilborg of Simac says, “It is becoming increasingly difficult for marketers to obtain reliable user data that is necessary for effective marketing and thus revenue growth. The Globe Protocol platform gives companies the opportunity to strengthen their revenue model and competitive position by making smart use of data.”
