The Hague-based Go Potty (“De Pot Op” in Dutch) has raised €350K in pre-seed funding to challenge the diaper industry. The Dutch startup aims to transform child care by encouraging early potty training, to get children out of diapers sooner.
YoV Capital, a Dutch venture capital fund, is supporting Go Potty’s growth. Their investment provides financial backing as well as access to expertise and a broad network to help the startup scale up further.
Renske de Bruine of YoV Capital says, “We are extremely proud to invest in Go Potty. With this step, we not only support female entrepreneurship, but we also believe in the positive impact that Go Potty has.”
“By potty training children earlier, they contribute to the child’s development and to a more sustainable world. This combination of social and ecological benefits makes this a company that we fully support.”
“Saving the world one nappy at a time”
Founded in 2022 by Elianne Leeffers, Go Potty combines an innovative app and advanced software to assist parents and childcare organisations with potty training.
The technology offers personalised schedules, motivational tips, and insightful data to make potty training fun and effective. This approach benefits the environment, saves parents money, and promotes children’s health.
According to a statement from Go Potty, potty training has been delayed over the years, with the average age now at three, compared to one in the 1940s.
The main reason is the rise of disposable diapers, which have become so efficient and convenient that they reduce the incentive for both children and parents to potty train. This benefits the diaper industry, which profits from later potty training.
Go Potty’s app (iOS, Android) offers a free test to help parents assess if their child is ready.
Capital utilisation
With this investment, Go Potty is making significant progress toward a future with fewer diapers, advancing its mission to promote early potty training.
“We want to show that things can and should be done differently. With our approach, children are potty trained 6 to 12 months earlier than average,” says, Elianne Leeffers, CEO and founder of Go Potty.
“This investment enables us to further develop and scale up our technology. This way we can reach even more parents and organisations,” adds Leeffers.
