Last update:

Rotterdam-based GSES, a rating platform that measures companies and organisations for sustainable and circular entrepreneurship, announced on Wednesday, September 14, that it has raised a “multi-million” investment.

The company says the funds will help it to create even more value for producers, suppliers and (retail) organisations. This investment, in accordance with GSES, should foster worldwide success, as seen by its partnership with well-known sustainability certification organisations.

GSES claims that its platform translates more than 560 sustainability standards into one universal scorecard. Following more than 70,000 customers, Xenos, Wibra and a number of other major retailers will also start displaying GSES sustainability scores to their customers.

Kelly Ruigrok, CEO and founder of GSES, says, “The investment will allow us to scale up faster internationally. We are hiring new people every month and expect to grow to a team of 25 colleagues this year.”

Sustainability and verified ESG rating platform

Global Sustainable Enterprise System (GSES) claims to be the world’s most used and trusted sustainability rating platform based on third-party verified data. GSES System uses globally accepted standards to holistically measure the sustainability performance of organisations, supply chains, projects, and products. The platform can be used as a procurement tool, asset management tool and corporate governance tool.

The company says that a global language is created by combining more than 560 standards and labels, allowing every industry, as well as every social, societal, and environmental element, to rate their own processes and products and communicate effectively about them. All information and proof, such as a social, circular, or environmental footprint, is sent to institutions that provide certification directly.

Founder Kelly Ruigrok says, “Our platform measures, verifies and assesses the sustainability performance of products and organisations. We do this by translating global sustainability standards into a universal score and standard, creating common understanding.”

Currently, GSES operates in more than 110 countries. Among others, the sustainability platform works for Xenos, Wibra, ABN AMRO, Univé, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to GSES, cooperation with independent certifying bodies guarantees the validation/verification of, for example, CSR targets, circularity, CO2 reduction, and biodiversity.

Ruigrok adds, “We are proud of our international success as well as the social contributions we make. During the World Expo in Dubai, we measured the sustainability of the supply chains for, among others, all country pavilions, for which in the presence of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, minister Tom de Bruijn was presented with the certificate.”
