Amsterdam-based Hyperion Lab, an innovative space that brings together a vibrant ecosystem to accelerate green AI and HPC (High-Performance Computing), announced on Monday that it has kicked off the third cohort of the Amsterdam AI innovation programme on October 6, 2022.

The lab is a collaboration of Amsterdam’s EscherCloud and global hardware manufacturer NVIDIA to support the communities working in AI and HPC.

“From healthcare to smart cities and machine learning to agriculture”

The programme provides startups with access to technical expertise, coaching and computing power. Since its inception in 2021, the showcase programme has supported 17 AI and HPC startups that innovate in various sectors, from healthcare to smart cities and from machine learning to agriculture.

Sana Khareghani, Chief Strategy Officer at EscherCloud, says, “This third cohort of startups is hugely important. It embodies the daring and socially conscious personality necessary to solve big problems with smart and clean technology to move the world forward. We are proud to help these young companies and entrepreneurs take their next steps by sharing our network, and our knowledge, experience and computing power with them.”

Hyperion Lab’s third cohort represents a new breed of startups where accessibility, integrity and combating climate change are at the heart of their mission.

Eight new startups, seven of which are based out of the Netherlands, want to improve the world with AI. Six of the participants focus on healthcare, such as AI applications for the heart, skin and the discovery of early-stage brain disorders. The programme also includes a startup with cleantech for a circular economy.
