London-based Index Ventures, a VC firm that helps entrepreneurs turn bold ideas into global businesses, announced on Thursday that it has launched a $300M Index Origin II global seed fund to help entrepreneurs with the financial and business resources required to bring their ideas to life.

According to the VC, Origin II is $100M larger than Origin I, which is in line with the firm’s strong commitment to early-stage investing. It is a collaborative fund that works with solo GPs and angel investors to promote startups and position them for success.

In a statement, Index Ventures says, “We are now seeking the next generation of founders who are prepared to ask: What If? And we believe this is the right time to be asking those questions. Extraordinary entrepreneurs succeed regardless of the macro dynamics. They don’t start a business based on rallying markets and trending VC investments but instead are driven by a singular mission and complete conviction.”

A collaborative approach

Index Ventures says it established Index Origin to provide business owners with the resources of a multi-stage fund along with the practical knowledge of a specialised seed fund.

“With Index Origin II, we are enhancing our collaborative strategy with the seed community by giving founders’ interests priority when co-investing with seed funds, solo general partners, and angel investors. This, in our opinion, is the best way to foster and support the upcoming generation of businesses that will ultimately shape our future,” says the company.

With the help of a seasoned team of investors, strategists, and a vast worldwide network, Index Ventures has improved its specific support for seed-stage companies. It will offer:

  • First hires: Choosing the correct personnel early on in a business’s life is critical. The recruitment team at Index Origin will work with the company’s founders to build plans for finding and hiring the company’s first employees.
  • Early Adopters: Index Origin will assist entrepreneurs in getting in touch with important decision-makers at well-known corporations, giving them the chance to work with them as design partners and providing early consumer feedback.
  • Operating Experts: In the areas of product, sales, finance, operations, and engineering, Index has established a sizable network of professionals and experts. This network will be available to founders for assistance with specialised counsel or direction.
  • Resources: Dedicated seed-specific resources such as OptionPlan Seed, assist entrepreneurs in setting up their initial stock option plan.
