The UK VC will allocate $800M (approximately €740M)  to venture funds and $1.5B (approximately €1.38B)  to a growth fund.

“Some people think venture is all about the money. For us, it’s all about the people. We build authentic relationships with exceptional founders, knowing that the rest will follow,” says the company.

So far, the VC has backed 108 startups that have achieved a $1B valuation, with 23 surpassing a $10B valuation, and 57 becoming publicly traded.

These companies have already generated 200,000 jobs and are projected to create an additional 20,000 jobs in the next 12 months.

It includes some of the successful tech companies, including Figma, Revolut, Roblox, Scale AI and Wiz.

Capital injection at a crucial point

According to Index Ventures, the capital injection comes at a crucial moment for the startup ecosystem, coinciding with significant developments in the following areas:

  • Transformative Technologies: Rapid advancements in AI and other transformative technologies are reshaping various industries.
  • Globalisation of entrepreneurship: The availability of deeper and more diverse pools of expertise on a global scale is providing startups with access to a wealth of skills and knowledge.
  • Increasing tech experience: Established strategies for achieving hyper-growth are emerging, providing valuable roadmaps for startup success and expansion.

“Now is a moment that reinforces our ethos and renews our commitment to our craft. We believed that brilliant founders could come from anywhere, be anyone, and exist in every sector. Since then, venture and tech have changed beyond recognition. We don’t do deals. We back exceptional entrepreneurs, with table-pounding conviction,” says the company.
