On Monday, Omaha, Nebraska-based Lindsay Corporation, announced that it has completed the acquisition of a 49.9 per cent minority interest in Austrian company Pessl Instruments.
Lindsay’s investment in the Austrian company aims to boost investment and innovation in AgTech to meet the growing demands for food, fuel, and fibre.
The partnership between Lindsay and Pessl, announced in May 2023, is helping producers significantly, says the company.
Growers access valuable data to make better decisions by using Lindsay’s FieldNET and FieldNET Advisor, along with Pessl’s METOS weather stations and soil moisture probes.
This integration helps optimise water, fertiliser, and pesticide use, leading to healthier crops and higher yields.
Pessl: Solar-powered monitoring systems
Founded by Gottfried Pessl, Pessl offers a diverse range of wireless, solar-powered monitoring systems under the METOS brand, along with the FieldClimate online platform.
The company’s solutions are suitable for all climate zones and are available in more than 25 languages. They cater to various industries, including agriculture, meteorology, and smart cities.
The company boasts more than one million sensors connected to 100,000 in-field data collection devices globally, and 50,000 active customers use its FieldClimate online interface.
These connected devices include weather stations, soil moisture probes, insect monitoring traps, crop monitoring cameras, soil and nutrient sampling, machine and asset trackers, providing key agronomic health indicators.
