Dutch-based Louwman Group announced on Monday, March 20, that it has bought a stake in Utrecht-based Mango Mobility, a company that sells electric bicycles, cars, motorcycles, and scooters online and through stores.
A formal agreement was signed between both parties on March 17, 2023.
Louwman Group, for the past 100 years, claims to have been among the biggest auto dealers in Europe. It offers brands in the mobility sector, including automobiles, bicycles, and inventions for flexible mobility.
Eric Louwman, President of Louwman Group, says, “As a customer gets older, there gradually comes a time when they look at an alternative means of mobility from their Toyota, Suzuki or electric bicycle. Although this need does change, many things stay the same as well.”
“These customers are independent, energetic and are looking for a high-quality mobility resource for their ease and comfort. Mango is very good at that.”
“With Mango Mobility as part of our family company, we can offer mobility for every single stage of life. That fits into our customer promise Mobility for Life seamlessly,” adds Louwman.
Boosting its position in the private sector
The senior population is expanding. Additionally, elderly people need to be active and stay functional for a healthier life.
“These people value their freedom and independence highly. They’re used to that with their car or bicycle as well. So they want to keep travelling, visiting their children and grandchildren, and having an active social life. They’re not looking for care, but comfort,” says John Naborn, director of Louwman’s Care division, which the shareholding Mango will be part of.
Jan-Willem Wiersma, founder and director of Mango Mobility, adds, “We have independently built up a strong brand position in the private market for senior mobility and together with Louwman we can now further expand this success.”
“We see a fast-growing demand because cycling and driving seniors are looking for a different interpretation of mobility when they get older.”
Mango reports that it can further increase its national store presence and service thanks to Louwman’s reputable brand and extensive retail network.
“This means that we will soon be able to serve many more customers even better,” adds Wiersma.
Wiersma also reports that Mango will be able to give its clients a lot more choices, like buying or renting, thanks to the banking services Louwman has in store.
About Mango Mobility
Founded in 2003, Mango Mobility was founded as a project to better serve consumers in the still-turgid, bureaucratised healthcare market.
It offers a broad selection of wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, and accessories for restrooms and bedrooms. The company also offers a nationwide service and repair network so that customers can securely and carefree appreciate their independence.
With its mobile shops, stores in major cities, customer support, transport, installation, and maintenance teams, Mango Mobility claims to be customer-focused and provides aid in the Netherlands and Belgium.
“We attach great value to people being able to do the things they find important and retain their freedom of movement.”
