London and Berlin-based Techspace, a flexible office provider, announced on Tuesday that it has launched its seventh European hub on Worship Street in London.

Located in the heart of Old Street, Techspace says it welcomes forward-thinking companies as it expands its portfolio in areas popular with technology companies.

Jonathan Bevan, CEO of Techspace, says, “Our new space is in the epicentre of London’s booming tech scene, right near the landmark Google Campus’ location, which put Old Street on the map in the early “Silicon Roundabout” days.”

“We’ve proudly spent a decade supporting entrepreneurs and their teams in East London and our new space is reflective of the evolving needs of scaleups. With hybrid work being the status quo in tech, it’s more important than ever that we locate in areas where members travelling from popular commuter towns are well served.”

“Worship Street has all that our members need and more,” he adds.

The new location!

Worship Street is Techspace’s seventh European location and follows its recent signing of a third site in Berlin.

Worship Street will add roughly 20,000 square feet to Techspace’s current portfolio in East London and expand its curated community to over 4,000 members across Europe.

Along with a roof terrace with views of Shoreditch, Worship Street will give nearby Techspace buildings access to the amenities it has to offer, which include five meeting rooms, a production room for video content and podcasts, and Worship Street’s “beautifully” designed event space, The Lightwell.

Plaid and Zoa will join existing member Agicap in the new location as they grow their staff in London.

Brendan Regan, Revenue Lead at Plaid, says, “Worship Street ticks all the boxes when it comes to connectivity and amenity. The space is thoughtfully designed and we have the freedom to customise every aspect of the Plaid office, creating a personalised environment for our team.”

“Amenities such as the roof terrace and member cafe allow our team to have different places to connect and work and it’s these kinds of features that we look forward to when we come to the office. Techspace also offers a huge level of flexibility with its Studio allowing for overspill on our busiest days in the office.”

What does the location offer?

The Scaleup Culture Report by Techspace elaborated on what UK IT professionals expect from their workspace. The most important motivators are connection and collaboration with coworkers.

Techspace offers flexibility that caters to a company’s present and future needs, from memberships and configurable offices to its latest product, the Studio, which allows members to book overspilled space on busy days.

This sort of flexibility enables teams to accommodate for more popular rush days and “all-in team days” on demand, without having to overinvest in their office space.

Members also get services such as in-house workplace design consultation, which ensures members get the most out of their office space, and Elevate, a leadership development programme that helps rising leaders take the next step in their leadership path.

Spaces on the first to fifth floors are intended to provide creative member firms with everything they need to accomplish their best job. Each Private Office unit has its own lockable conference room, phone booth, and kitchen.

While shared spaces are constructed with the understanding that hybrid work is the new norm, bookable meeting rooms are outfitted with presentation A/V equipment.

Worship Street was thoughtfully designed in line with Techspace’s People and Planet Strategy. When completed, the refurbishment will boost the building’s capacity from 150 to more than 300 members, effectively doubling the site’s carbon efficiency per capita.

Furthermore, Techspace has chosen to convert the facility from gas to electric power, allowing them to run on 100 per cent renewable energy.

About Techspace

Founded in 2011, Techspace offers flexible workspaces for change-makers who put technology at the centre of their work. It offers space, expertise and community to amplify and inspire impact.

Techspace is growing with the recent announcement of a new future space in Berlin, Germany. Dieffenbachstraße 33 (U33) is a piano factory and when it opens in 2025, will be its third location in Berlin.

The company has also expanded its workforce with the addition of Caroline Hudack, an ex-AirbnB and Facebook executive, who joins the Board as Non-Executive Director, and Kim Stringer, who has joined Techspace as People Director and member-facing growth adviser.

Currently, Techspace’s team of 50 covers the UK and Germany, with ambitions to add a number of new positions over the next 12 months to fuel its expansion across Europe.
