London-based Travelport, which provides travel bookings for travel suppliers worldwide, announced on Friday, March 10, that it has acquired California-based Deem, a corporate travel management platform.

With this partnership, Travelport and Deem look to address the post-pandemic increase in demand for a fully integrated business travel technology solution that offers multi-source content and functionality expected from a premier travel technology.

“On a mission to transform business travel”

Deem offers solutions made to fit how people work and commute, and how businesses implement policies and manage costs. It is designed to boost productivity, facilitate problem-solving, and keep workers focused on the task at hand.

Deem claims that with its platform, travel managers can easily modify their travel programmes and provide excellent customer support.

The company was previously owned by Enterprise Holdings, a car rental provider and an industry leader in mobility and technology.

Deem claims its market position in corporate travel has been increasing and Travelport’s investment aims to speed up that development on a worldwide level.

Currently, the company is headquartered in Silicon Valley (California), with offices in Bangalore (India) and Dublin (Ireland).

David Grace, President of Deem, says, “The acquisition by Travelport will enable a strong future of global growth for Deem and help accelerate the delivery of travel management solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.”

Aim of this acquisition

Through the introduction of the first end-to-end solution for the NDC content of American Airlines, Travelport claims solidified its position as a market leader in NDC.

In order to give Deem access to NDC offers, goods, and services, Travelport intends to quickly execute a technological integration. This will help the company maintain its leading position.

For businesses, travellers, and travel agents, access to this content is becoming increasingly important, especially in North America where airlines are starting to move some content solely to NDC.

Deem’s pace to market will be significantly accelerated by this acquisition, enabling seamless multi-source content integration.

Greg Webb, CEO of Travelport, says, “The game-changing acquisition of Deem by Travelport will fulfil a growing, post-pandemic need for a tight, fully-integrated corporate tool that will provide access to all multi-source content, including New Distribution Capability (NDC).”

“We’ve been laser-focused on investing in technology innovation, and Travelport+ has simplified the agency workflow, upgraded how travel content is curated, and enabled modern travel retailing.”

“Now with the acquisition of Deem, Travelport will provide corporate travel with award-winning, complementary tools that are as revolutionary, modern, and easy-to-use as Travelport+,” adds Webb.
