Last update:

Although colleges and institutions have reopened, the chances of another Covid-19 outbreak still looms large. And in order to limit the risk, Amsterdam-based startup Omnia, which offers hygienic and sustainable buildings, has announced the launch of its new webapp, PLEQ, at the Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam.

The app will help reduce the experience of crowdedness on campus and will help the students to focus on what’s important – studying.

What does the app offer?

According to Omnia, the app will make it easier for students to locate and reserve the ideal study location on campus, whether they’re seeking a private study space or a group study room.

With PLEQ, the students of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam can easily navigate to the study spot of their choice using an interactive 3D campus map, view images of the study rooms to help them make an informed decision and even see real-time availability data for each study spot.

Moreover, the app will also provide a wayfinding feature to make it easy to find students’ way to the study spot they choose.

Omnia co-founder, Marwan el Morabet, mentions in a post, “To all the VU students: We can’t wait for you to try Pleq and experience the convenience and efficiency it brings to your study routine. So don’t wait – go to pleq.vu.nl now and start finding the perfect study spot on campus!”

Brief about Omnia

Founded in 2021 by Adil Ayi and Marwan el Morabet, Omnia claims to create the future campus experience with smart technologies. During the lockdown, Marwan and Adil had to remain at home, but they weren’t sitting idle. Instead, they created a ‘tool’ that allows them to mimic workplace behaviour using technology.

The founders say, “We believe in a more technology-driven campus management as a solution for the rapidly growing student populations on campus.”

The company guides students on where they can sit to study while increasing space utilisation of existing real estate through technology in order to measure occupancy in various spaces on campus.
