Amsterdam-based Pickler, a software startup that enables packaging companies to calculate, reduce and share the impact of packaging, announced that it has secured €500K in a fresh round of funding.
The investment was led by Shamrock Ventures, known for sustainable tech investments. The round also saw support from existing angel investor and early-stage startup investor APX.vc.
Tommy Hurley, managing partner at Shamrock Ventures says, “Pickler’s unique software and take on making product footprint calculations accessible to business is much needed.”
“We are thrilled to support Pickler in its mission to help the packaging industry achieve the 55 per cent CO2-eq EU reduction target for 2030.”
Calculate the impact of your packaging with ease
Founded in 2021 by Daan van Hal and Koen de Beer, Pickler specialises in footprint software for packaging, offering environmental impact calculations at any scale. Compare product, material, and process footprints, and share results with stakeholders.
Using Pickler, packaging companies can communicate environmental impact, meet customer demand, and foster sustainability throughout the value chain, reducing the risk of greenwashing.
According to Pickler, its software meets the urgent needs of the packaging industry amid rising conscious consumerism and EU regulations such as the Green Claims Directive and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSDR).
By employing an accessible Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, predictive algorithms, and dynamic data systems, it enables cost-effective and scalable environmental footprint calculations. This solution empowers professionals to showcase and comply with EU legislation on packaging sustainability.
Pickler complies with anti-greenwashing laws, like the EU’s Green Claims Directive and the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets, and collaborates with the Sustainability Impact Metrics foundation for credible results, minimising greenwashing risks in sales and marketing.
Compliant with anti-greenwashing regulations, the company operates in Europe, the Nordics, the US, Asia and Australia.

Koen de Beer, co-founder of Pickler says, “This successful funding round in a challenging funding climate proves investors believe in the business opportunities product footprint reduction will bring within the upcoming 5 years.”
“Together with frontrunners in the packaging industry, we proudly prove that having a transparent story about the environmental impact of their products results in a positive business case with a short return on investment.”
“With this investment round, we can reach even more companies in the packaging industry and help them effectively reduce emissions in their value chain.”
