Berlin-based Polyteia, a company that empowers an effective and accountable government by providing actionable data for decision-making, announced on Wednesday, March 1, that it has raised €5M in a fresh round of funding.

The round was led by HV Capital with participation from existing investor DvH Ventures

Said Haschemi, Investment Manager at HV Capital, says, “HV is excited to partner up with Polyteia to serve the public sector’s massively growing need for scalable software solutions. Governments must manually navigate through a flood of data to make the right decision – a process that is timely and too often error-prone.”

“With Polyteia, decision-makers in the public sector finally have access to the right data with a click of a button. HV is looking forward to working with Faruk and the team to help the company to build the first government SaaS category leader in Europe,” adds Haschemi.

A data platform for the public sector

Founded in 2018 by Faruk Tuncer, Polyteia empowers public administration to make better decisions with a secure and sovereign SaaS data platform.

Leto, a data tool from Polyteia, makes it possible for public management to automatically integrate, transform and visualise data from various source systems. Leto is accessible through the Solution and Studio product lines.

The solutions are made to address the various work areas’ frequent use cases in the public sector. For governmental agencies, customised solutions can be created, if necessary.

According to Polyteia, data is easily merged and processed using the no-code/low-code solution Studio. Thus, it is possible to execute extremely specific requirements both with and without programming expertise.

Leto is housed and run on computers owned and managed by Deutsche Telekom (Open Telekom Cloud) located in Germany (Magdeburg). The BMWK has designated this as a “Trusted Cloud” and it has received ISO 27001 certification from BSI.

Polyteia looks to onboard technology partners using its platform and infrastructure in addition to selling its software directly to customers. This will help create a community of large-scale data use cases for the public sector.

In the areas of social service planning, crisis reaction, and budget controlling, more than 80 administrations, including states like Schleswig-Holstein or Saarland, as well as national-level departments in Germany, utilise Polyteia’s data platform.

With this, in Germany alone, Polyteia says it is enhancing choices that affect over 2 million people and 400,000 companies.

Capital utilisation

Polyteia says the funds will be used to advance its platform’s development and broaden the company’s market reach in the DACH area and beyond.

Faruk Tuncer says, “Governments worldwide invest and spend trillions on their services. In the Euro Zone alone, half of GDP is directly or indirectly generated by government expenditures. Equally public sector institutions are under high digitisation pressure by more than one-third of their workforce retiring until 2030.”

“Polyteia’s platform will be crucial in empowering them in their capabilities of solving 21st-century challenges with better data against the backdrop of these trends. This new funding will allow us to further develop our data platform and bring it to many more governments in DACH and beyond.”
