project: a, the shorthand for Project Amsterdam, aims to attract the world’s top tech talent – highly skilled developers and engineers – to join the Amsterdam tech scene. It has launched its second program to help companies and startups recruit tech talent to work on future shaping projects. The deadline to apply is 15 April 2018.
Launched in 2017, the program is a joint initiative of StartupAmsterdam and City of Amsterdam. Last year the project was conceived when 10Â Amsterdam-based companies needed help to source best tech pros. Selected talent gets to work on everything from FinTech to future-shaping AI.
The selection process
The program invites software engineers, data analysts, and ICT experts to apply and 10 of them get selected to be flown to Amsterdam in May. The selected talent gets to attend tech conference called The Next Web and interview with the preferred employers. Flights and accommodation are sponsored by project: a.
Amsterdam: A thriving startup and tech hub
Named as the ‘European Capital of Innovation‘ by the European Commission in 2016, tech companies compete for talent in the Amsterdam city. It’s the European headquarter of some of the most innovative tech giants including Tesla, Netflix, Uber, Atlassian, Optimizely, and NextDoor.
The latest round of applications is for companies which include Adyen, BTC.com, Dimebox, Effectory, Elsevier, Flow Traders, Mollie Payments, Optiver, Picnic, and Takeaway.com. Silicon Canals recently covered one of these scale-ups, Takeaway.com when it acquired BGMenu and Oliviera for €10.5M.
