Eindhoven-based Happy Horizon, a marketing firm, announced that it has acquired AdBirds, an Amsterdam-based company that provides online marketing and e-commerce services.
The company has bought all of AdBirds’ stock while keeping key management on board.
Founded in 2010 by former Google and Meta employees, AdBirds offers digital marketing services in more than 60 nations, 68 languages, and 365 days a year.
It does that by fusing the expertise of former Google and Facebook employees with a variety of e-commerce experts. The company has local coverage all over the world. It works for companies such as LVMH, Lacoste, PUMA, Pepe Jeans and Hackett.
Aim of this acquisition
With this acquisition, Happy Horizon claims to have made a significant advancement in the area of internationalisation. In addition to offices in seven Dutch cities, the company now has coverage across the rest of the world.
Walter van de Wege, CEO of Happy Horizon, adds, “This acquisition is a major step in Happy Horizon’s international growth plans. AdBirds operates internationally with a local character. Specialised local teams who speak the language and understand the market support brands to roll out campaigns worldwide.”

Lucy Johnston and Fransje Mous, both global directors at AdBirds, say they are excited to work with Happy Horizon and contribute to their international growth.
In a company statement translated from Dutch, Johnston says, “The fit with Happy Horizon has been good from the beginning and last week we met all the labels during a strategic session. Our DNA is a perfect fit for the group and our years of experience at Google and Facebook, as well as our international network of specialists, will undoubtedly contribute to Happy Horizon’s international growth.”

In October 2022, the company announced that all its labels, including Happy Idiots, Happy & Healthy, Happy Cactus, Happy Geeks, Evoworks, PauwR, Flashpoint, WWAV, WINNRS, Digimonks, and Nochii, will continue under the name Happy Horizon.
According to the company, this step was a result of the hub strategy that Happy Horizon rolled out in the Netherlands.
